  4. Cool! I was blown away by the Aussie pic and the gasser pick is icing baby!

Thanks for putting on the event Rocky... next time we'll bring the digger out!

This is definately a don't miss Central California event!

Hey Rocky, I didn't know you knew Bobby Gaines... he did the machine work on my motor.... my mom went to high school with him and he has known me since I was two! The only guy I trust to do machine work... and one hell of a great person.

Rocky. Thanks for a great event. I never thought there would be Drag Racing (Legal any way) out here so close to home. Thanks to the owner of the property and to all involved. Hope you can make it happen again and again and again and !!!!!!!!!!!!!! well you get what i"m saying. It was so cool to see the race cars, and the cars that probably never would have seen a drag strip otherwise, make passes.

SamIyam your 55 and your gear bangin' were one ( well I guess thats two) of my favorite parts of the event. The video on here of you giving Rocky a ride is awesome. Reminds me of the movie Hollywood Knights when the 57 and the Cobra race off the stop light. You can here the gears bangin'.

The video is a little fuzzy but pretty good considering I got the clips from a friends cell phone. Once I again thankyou to everyone who made this event happen.

I would also like to thank Diane Diedrich and the entire Firebaugh Racing group (includes the Jeeps), Diane and the team ran the $*#%T out of thier cars and the crowd loved it. Diane won the Open Comp award with her wicked Nova, carefull RJ:D.

A Special Appearence was made by Elmer "Unsprung" Snyder with his original slingshot dragster from the '50s. Elmer raced this dragster and won against the likes of Ivo and others in the day then put it in the barn near Gustine were it set for YEARS, Fast forward and now it's restored. Elmer is an original member of the West Side Auto Club one of the oldest car clubs around and thanks to Don Gomes (president of the West Side Auto Club) we got him to make an appearence. At 83 years young Elmer still puts the car thru it's paces and won the Top Eliminator award, Thank you Elmer, Dick and Vickie!

Meet Buddy Meddock, one of the nicest guys around that is starting a Hot Rod business in Clovis, CA. Buddy tested his work by running his '56 like a circle track car:D and won the Modified award. If you need something done give Buddy a shot at www.BuddyM-HotRods.com.
There are so many people to thank it's incredible..........we had 75 volunteer staff members and many companies helping us that wanted nothing in return! I would try to list them all but I might miss someone and I don't want to do that, plus we didn't do it to be famous we just wanted to provde an event for people to enjoy.
We are planning on doing an event next year between late April and late June depending on conflicting events. The event will be the same format (yes RJ said he will return), maybe some portable bleachers if someone can find some, more restrooms & trashcans, better PA system (I'll try not to run over the speakers again), a water based dust control agent in front of the crowd, better parking supervision and closer handicap parking. We are going to allow '73 and earlier this time if we can get the old strip some new asphalt otherwise we will continue with '65 and earlier. I hope everyone will continue to support me in my efforts at Eagle Field, the events will not be advertised, if you are in the know, you will know, all info will be by Flyer, the HAMB, ANRA.COM and word of mouth. I don't want to lose the magic we had last weekend and get too big, but our later model counterparts are car guys like us and supported me thru this event and I told them that next year we would have an event with a Fresno Dragway Reunion theme. The event will still be dirty and take you back in time with Flag Starts and no clocks, we will have 2 staging lanes, one for '64 and earlier, one for '73 and earlier and I'm inviting Stormy and Elmer back. So stay tuned, a new thread will be started soon with more info and if your on my contact list I'll send you a PM. Thank You again for all the kind words and your support, without you we have no event! Rocky

You are right about Bob! I consider Bob a great friend who owns Bell & Gaines (Modesto, CA), one of the LAST REAL SPEED SHOPS (Fully Stocked) in the country. Rocky

You're on the list Mitch:D I found the picture of the red 57 I was looking for, check the videos, this '57 reminded me of Fresno Dragways, when I was a kid! Rocky

As pertains to HA/GR capable venues ......
This year's Dragfest was the first weekend in May.
Antique Nat's was the middle of June.
ANRA Spring was the third weekend in June.

I'd bet next year's will be roughly the same but check with Randy and Butch, and (I believe) Ford "A" Speed Technology group (Jim Brierley?) is in charge of the 'Nat's.

  26. Another June event to avoid is the Father's Day Roadster Show.

There is the Grafitti weekend in Modesto, but that's not a big draw during the day for HAMB folks.
