Fat Daves Flathead brought back from the dead

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, Oct 16, 2009.

  1. My good friend Fat Dave traded his 59 Pontiac for a 51 Ford F-1 the other day. We rolled it in the shop last night and within half an hour had it running. It runs great, good oil pressure, doesn't over heat, and best of all, it has a 1CM 51 Mercury engine (or at least the heads are mercury).
It's too bad the snow is flying already because with a good weekends worth of work this truck could be road worthy!

  5. Whats different that makes a 52? It was originally advertised as a 49 but registered as a 51.

  6. We have beer at the shop, but working while drinking beer usually turns out to be sloppy work and very unproductive

  7. The F-O-R-D on the front panel was not there in 51. It was there in 48, 49, 50, and 52.

Canadian trucks might be different though?

It's currently registered as a '52... and as of this morning it's insured as a '52... now all I gotta do is make it stop like a '52 and I'm driving.

I think I'm gonna squeeze out some driving time before the snow really gets stupid around here. I don't think I'll be able to do much harm to it... it's been around the block 7 or 8 million times.

I sure am excited... if all goes well, you won't even recognize 'er in the spring. Hopefully it'll be less ****py by then.
