Oh thank God! But someone will now find a Citroen 2CV and actually do that just because they can. Oh the humanity.

(I miss "Uncle" Tom McCahill. He wasn't afraid to be outspoken when it came to calling an ugly car an ugly car, or a lousy car a lousy car. Today's auto writers are too busy swanning around and cooing over new Ferraris, BMWs, Porsches, etc. and scared to death to incur the wrath of automakers--unless it's easy and they can get away with it.)

That reminds me. My son is 9 and I think more than ready to watch AG. I think I'll put it on tonight since it is Saturday and we could use a good movie night.

I say get rid of those rear wheels and get a matchin pair of americans....
Intresting ride, what is it? a datsun? im pretty sure is a jap car, i love
japs from the late 50s to the early 70s, they are fascinating in some way....this is not one of those models, but then again, i would have never thought of makin a gasser out of one of those that i like.
i dont mean to bitch at all dont get me wrong, im the last one that can speak.
Post some more pics of set up and plans.

Hey no offense taken. I know its not for everyone nor is it really what I had planned. It just kinda kept growing into what it is now.
I know the wheels aren't really doing it right now, but I might actually go with pie plates on the front too instead.
Reason being is I want the end product to look more like a Ed Roth drawing more than a gasser. The car is a 70 corolla and thats just too new to be true gasser.
I really have no plans of racing it or anything, just cruising it and making people scratch their heads.:)

    ^It is a photoshop

I wouldn't put it past the photoshopper (Olli Erkkila) to actually build it. He's built some badass choppers and some cool cars, nothing this extreme, but I think he's capable.

One of the things that I miss the most about the cars from the '60's and '70's was the Names created and painted on the cars.........
I worked for a guy named Jerry Slobe at a Shell Gas Station back in the early '70's in sod-ville Iowa and his Road Runner was all painted up in Red-White & Blue and was named 'Tramps & Theives'.

Wow about 7 years ago that kid wanted to trade that thing to me for my old model A coupe. I was going to jump on it, had a 426 HEMI in it and a pasley leather top, I thought it was a really cool T-bird,

SYCO,no way is that corrolla too new to be a true gasser. Here in Australia one of the really competitive gassers in the early 70's, called Time machine ,was a 69 corolla, powered by a supercharged 186 ci holden six and later an injected 350 chev, that thing was as true as you can get.
Australian Gas class rules allowed for chopped tops upto 4". see link for pic of the chev powered version

  21. Thanks Guys.

Glad you like them. You're right on Metalshapes. It is an Austin A30 panel van and it was powered by a 186 cube Holden 6-pack with triple SU carbs.

    Steve.

So, Steve, What kind of car is "LIL HOT STUFF" ?
Looks like a mini Z car.

  26. Hi Yo Baby.

Lil Hot Stuff is a Honda (700?)). I'll have to go back through my old magazines and check what engine George Wegener ran in it.

At this year's Nostalgia Nationals the racing-forever George, at age 74, won the Gas bracket in his Chevy powered Corolla and the bracket runner-up was 20 years old. I guess that's why we all dig nostalgia so much, you get the new kids in against the sport's long-time legends.

I'll find out the details on the Honda and post them here.

    Cheers.

    Steve.

Yes, The Chicken Hawk was destroyed in a racing accident.
Ted Harbit was hurt, but has since fully recovered.
Ted has a drag Studebaker Avanti project that is 85% finished, so he is spending his time finishing the Avanti.
