I had to run to the town dump today and get rid of some **** off of a project. Sitting right on top of the metal pile in the dumpster was this rot free left front fender. There is the obvious surface rust but otherwise it is pretty clean. It has a few dents, all repairable.
"They said I couldn't bring in the whole car because I didn't have a ***le so it's been going to the dump a piece at a time".......If I lived in that area I'd be dying to know who threw it away.
Damn , you are lucky to find something that nice at the dump for FREE ! Did you keep digging to find the rest of the car ? RetroJim
Cool find. That could be a fender that someone had that was belong to some old guy that had it stored in his barn with a bunch of other stuff and it been there for 60 years, sold the house and the new owners cleaned out all that "Junk" to make way for the 09 BMW
Looked online at a few cars... it does look like a 29-30 Chevy fender. But the seem is throwing me off. The pictures I have seen don't have the seem. Anyone else have any idea?? Sadly this was the only thing on the pile, believe me I would have grabbed more. They don't really allow taking anything so I was lucky to get this. Noone was looking.
they don't let you take anything here either, they have a guard, and a giant sign that says you will be arrested. With all this recycling talk, and talk of no land fill space, why in the world do they need a guard to keep you from taking **** OUT of the land fill? isn't that the best recycling? keep stuff from being buried and put to use again.
I am not sure but I think we have a winner. Hard to find good detailed picutes online. But from what I can see this fender looks good to the 28 Pontiac. Now the question is, what is it worth? Not looking to make a killing here. Just want to be informed.
Good Find HotRod47,,,,a little off topic but I also just found something,,,a pair of doors that are old,,nice metal, patina, with wood frames inside and solid,,look like original T Bucket type doors the top of the door is solid no windows. The only thing is I don't know exactly what they are,,, PM me and I can send a picture tomorrow. Standing back,, the doors look square with a seam.
Okay Your All Wrong!! It's a volkswagen fender worth about $10.00. Me being a nice guy I'll give ya $25.00 and pay the shipping...
Depending on how bad someone needs it, $50-$250 anyways. Trouble is they box up too big to ship easily, so selling it is a pain in the ***. I picked up a running board I suspect might be 37-38 Chev pickup (but who knows) at an auction a while back that I need to ID. Damn thing looks like it's NOS brand new. I paid $5 for the whole lot that it came with.
Nice find! Are there any bolt marks around the mounting holes? Looks like a NOS item. Not a common make by the looks of it. Try posting the photos on the AACA website, there is a General Forum and specificmake forums like oakland Pontiac etc. Years ago I drove into the transfer station here in town and there was this metal bowl in the road, a 1920's era Rolls Royce headlight bucket and rim without the gl***. Often wonder what else was dropped off that day.
yes it looks like a NOS fender finish. Some NOS fenders were made in aftermarket brands like Fostoria. Doesn't matter if you ID it, because the "NOS" will bring a way higher price.
Yeah, that's the spirit! My buddy (who's an old Mercedes nut) found a very nice '65 in a local salvage yard & they wouldn't let him haul the whole thing away. I told the guy, "Can we just buy all the parts at once?" & he got pissed at me.
