  1. weird story,
about three years ago some old guy sees me at the local car guy hangout, comes up to me and asks if i know anybody who would want to buy a 52 chevy pick up truck.
i said yeah, let me come check it out.
i looked at it and with no motor and trans he wanted 2500 bucks for it.
i politely declined and walked away.
a year later the guys wife calls me and asks me if im still interested in the truck for 1500 bucks
still too pricey so i declined
i turned some guys from my club onto it and they negotiated it down to 400 bucks but walked away.
i ended up getting it for 350.00

its already on an s10 ch***is with v8 motor mounts welded in
headers and turbo 350 with radiator and trans cooler laying in engine compartment.
bucket seats and floor shifter with gm tilt installed
    i couldnt say no.

Damn! And I thought I stole my wife's '48 5-window for $500. Of course, it came with a bed full of body parts... two good doors, three hoods, five fenders, three grilles, two radiator supports, etc. Anyone need parts? Make me an offer.

The deal actually got sweeter still. A good friend of mine donated a Camaro clip with discs and power steering. Another friend donated a rear end with discs from a Trans Am. Another friend donated a GM tilt column. Another friend donated a 200R4. And I traded a Holley 750 double pumper for a complete running 305.

Ya stole it! Plywood bed sides? Rest of the truck looks solid, how well does it actually fit on the S10 frame? Width? Looks like a super parts chaser! Clear ***le?

    awesome....great score!

  16. i think you got it twisted.
the guy that had it is still very much alive.
the previous owner to him was his son.
unfortunately he was a thirtysomething druggie with a bad paint huffing problem.
one day the father came home to find the son laying on the picnic table in the backyard dead from huffing.
he approached me about buying the truck.
(i didnt pursue this guy.they kept calling me .)
the dad told me he couldnt stand walking by it in the driveway every day so they threw the thing in the woods behind their house to rot.
i talked to the dad and promised him it would be going to a good home and would be finished.
i also told him to stop by anytime to check out the progress.
i am also gonna put a little in memory of frank jr. on the tailgate for the dad.
i let every car guy in the area know where it was and gave them the phone number.
it wasnt like i didnt give everyone i knew a chance to offer them what they were asking.
nobody in my area wanted it.
maybe i should have let it rot to nothing in the woods.

Nice score! Or should I say,"save"? A lot of projects like this get crushed. That steering wheel looks a little small to me. I have a stock one I'll give it to you if you want it. I got it out of a free pile at a swap meet. You pay shipping. Good luck with your 52. My first set of wheels was a 47 when I was 15. Had a soft spot for this vintage of truck my whole life. Some folks get the nuts and some get the shells.:D

  19. Wow, you stole that truck:p

  20. there are actually good steel bed sides under the wood.
maybe they were trying to make a redneck fashion statement or somethin.
its mounted to the body nice though.
front end is just sat on there.
    it does actually fit .
    clear ohio ***le.

It ****s karmicly to take advantage of a bad situation.
HOWEVER, to save something that someone loved and memorialize a person, no matter the cir***stances, is most honorable. Sometimes youre guided to the right thing.
    GOOD SCORE, GOOD SAVE.

He didnt get them to 400, others did months ago. He just went back and they wanted it gone.
    Great score Kenny.
I wouldve bought it in a second myself, just as I said I would of, had you p***ed.

The treadwidth on that front suspension seems too wide for an S10...front wheels would be completely inside the front fenders, you sure its not a half ton frame?

Definately not S10, the open c-chanel sure looks like a reg half ton, S10 is boxed to just about the front of the rear springs. If the steering box is on the outside of the frame, its prolly Chev 1/2 ton.
