No problem at all,,if it's for sale it is fair game and the sad part is you guys overseas are willing to pay extra to get that prized car or part,,,several times over what our good ol' boy's in the states are willing to pay.

I offered a 32 5-window coupe body there on the Hamb and got a lotta response and a lot of offers to trade and more than a few low ball offers,,,but I ended up selling to a guy in Norway,,he was willing to pay the asking price.

None of this stuff is all that rare and considered to be a National Treasure.

This is just my opinion,,but I think it reflects on most of us,,HRP

Maybe one of us brit friendly hambers could get it from the prick, and forward it to you. I'd be pissed if I found the 40 ford ute I've always wanted, and had the seller say "sorry, I only sell to Aussies"...

  5. I'm working out the details to sell my '31 A to Norway. I hate to see it go, but I need the cash and he's buying - it's been advertised all over, people here have had plenty of chances to buy it. Let it go and I can turn around and work on my '50 Chevy instead. That car I have most of what I need for it, I just need to buy some mounts to V8 it. Then next summer I'll have one I can drive -

I buy a lot of stuff on ebay and rarely have a problems, as I have a Us shipping address in Florida. Most problems I have here on the HAMB. I find something interesting, ask for some pics, and everything stops here. No more replies from the seller. And I see ad is repeated several time, I try to contact him again and again and still no reply. Last example : I bough a 46 DeSoto sedan here on the HAMB from a nice guy, but some parts were missing. After some months, I see an ad for the parts I am looking for. Get in touch with seller, he replies back with some prices, I ask for some pics, he disappears. I try to get in touch with him once more, he has some family problems. Afetr two months, he writes back saying if I am still interested. I am, so send list once more, asking for some pics. No more reply. Just a ph number. After a couple of days, ad is sent back to top. But still no reply to me. I am here waitng to purchase parts, have paypal to pay for them, have an address in the US for shipping, only need a pic of item to be sure of correcteness and shape of part.
Is there a logic in this?

In general, I have had great experiences sending parts overseas and Canada. I have had delivery issues in Italy, and occasionally France.

the foreign governments should relax their crazy duty taxes ... I have no problem helping a brother out

  9. Yeah, I don't like to ship to Italy either, it's kind of hit or miss - the customs are slow and have a reputation for being corrupt, things dissapear there. But if you have a US address to ship to, I don't know what the problem is.

I shipped an original 32 front crossmember to a guy in sweden. It needed a little help to be perfect, but it was priced real good. I boxed it up nice, and did a little leg work to get it there for what i thought was a lot of money in shipping. He was super pleased. He acted way better than a guy at a local swap meet who damn near gets the old stuff for free. The hot rod guys over seas have it a tad bit rougher than we do if they want to build something other than a catalog car. I was happy to do it, and i will do it again. Hot rods are hot rods, no matter where they are built.

I guess hey if he doesn't want to sell the stuff, so be it -

  14. Re the post about Ebay paypal freezing funds. I got caught in this while trying to buy an item. Ebay and payp[al has gooten to the point now of being useless. They said they did it to protect the buyer. The Seller was suppposed to ship the item to me while they held the funds and IF I was happy they would release the funds to him . He of course wouldnt ship without the gold and to be perfectly honest I didnt blame him a bit. he didnt know me from a hole in the ground and I dont ship anything untill I have the gold in my hand as well. it he recinded the sale but it took two weeks of email with paypal and Ebay to get my money back. The seller actually wound up helping me do that. The guy had a 98.5 score and i didnt ask Ebay or paypal to interfere. it was a used piece and I was satisfied with his discription and appraisal of it. Eaby didnt care. they kept telling me they were prtecting the buyer. I told them I am the buyer you idiots! I dont want you protect. give the guy the moeny i sent him and get out of the way. They would not so I have quit using them completely. But that has nothing to do with Another country . that is what happen when the i opposite sex gets in a position of power in a business they dont understand. I see now that "MRS Ebay" has decided to retire. maybe there is hope!

My old granny said treat others as you would like to be treated yourself..... So I guess its their choice where to ship to but they will most likely get crapped on by some deal later on . Hell we are all car guys after all and if we cant find the part we need in our small corner of the world we have to cast the net wider ,other wise the project just stalls. I have sold stuff to the US and Aussie no troubles at all.

  18. That was my immediate reaction as well. If the fool won't take your money I'm sure someone will. I'd sell to you but all I own is trash...

I ship headers overseas every week or 2 ... The worst part of shipping overseas for me is using the post office and standing in line for up to an hour to ship 1 box. UPS is too expensive so if I want to make the sale I go post office.

One thing I know is the customer overseas is very happy to find someone to ship them parts, I have NEVER had 1 overseas customer complain on the shipping price . 1 set of headers to the UK is around $130-140

Langy, You ran across a 1 out of 1000s guy with a problem. I've sold lots of parts and a car overseas and felt real good about the sales, so did the buyers. In a totally fucked up world politically, I find a great deal of pleasure selling stuff one on one to fellow enthusiasts. We're all in this deal together, some just have higher shipping fees.:)

As an American, I have sold stuff overseas, when I lived overseas. I knew a guy that needed some Gen III Camaro parts, including a left rear corner. Took lots of pics, sent them to my dad, and he went to the junkyard and had them section out the car. Bought the new plastic wares, put it all in a crate, and shipped it to me in Germany. The Germans only made "me" pay taxes on the new in box stuff (taillights, switches and gas rods) But Hans Hermann was happy!

As long as anyone is willing to pay 100% of the shipping, I will ship anywhere except Nigeria and Somalia. (Because of scammers and pirates, mind you...)

As for my fellow countrymen who refuse to sell to peoples/countries, hey, that is their right. For what ever reason. I dont understand why, and sometimes, I dont agree with their "logic", as it is occasionally narrow minded and ignorant. But, you run into things like that in alot of places.

I've been hoping for an opportunity to sell some parts to the Chinese, but all they seem to want to do is ship their parts to us.

I send tons of old car parts to China, in little shreds on big, slow moving boats.

I don't mind international shipping, I was looking for a mirror from a RHD version of a O/T Mercedes, met a guy in NZ who wanted a LH mirror for the same, I sent him mine and he sent me his, right back in the same box. International shipping is great.

The only problem I've had is that USPS has a size limit on the packages you can send through them. I did some shipping to Canada by Fedex a couple times, but both times my buyer stiffed the customs office, and Fedex charged it back to me, probably a month or two after the sale. So they ruined Fedex international for me, now I'll only ship internationally if I can do it through the post office.

I'm always impressed when I read about European and Australian guys restoring the most rotted out 4 doors that we would pick for parts and scrap. They cherish this stuff more than we do in a lot of cases, I'm more than happy to help out with parts.

If someone refuses to send me some parts which are up for sale, I don't think about it any further. It's his right to chose whoever he wants to strike a deal with, and if it ain't me, well, be it.

I am glad and thankful for all the guys and gals who were willing to send car parts over the Big Pond to me. I always payed up front, sometimes paypal, sometimes cash US-dollars in a mail envelope. Big risk? Well, when I need the parts, I will take the risk. Never done me no harm so far.

People in the US, Australia and NZ are usually really helpful and friendly. Good manners are their own reward!

The authors of the straight-six hop-up book (fordsix forums) once sent me some rocker shaft retainers for the small falcon six engines. Mine were absolutely shot and I could not get them anywhere. They just threw them in a padded envelope and sent them over, at no cost. They only required me to return the favor one day for the first one who would ask - which I did. A couple months later, some guy on that message board asked for a straight accelerator pump cover. I sent him one, along with hardware and assembly drawing, at no cost.

  28. Hi Langly, Have faith, Ive just been to Felixstowe to pick up my 283 SBC & loads of other parts shipped from Joshua Tree CA, the guy is a Hamber & what a guy.... he`s the man. The packing was great everthing was fastened down with metal brackets...Thanks again "CHARLIE DELONG" you are a true mate . We Brits are truly thankful for sharing your great hobby of Hot Roddin with us, Ive been a Rodder since 1958 it has been my life & my Wife always says if she had met "Henry Ford" she would have strangled him ( she`s only kidding ) Cheers & thanks to all the other Hambers that have shipped parts to me........Bri:rolleyes:

Ask him if he has any Triumph M/C parts. If he does, tell him to send that crap back ASAP!
