Well before that, the swap was located at other smaller venues until they started to draw a crowd. When you basically have a free swap, they attract a lot of guys cleaning out their garages of all of the 'good' stuff !!!

The best deal I saw was the 28-29 roadster for $8k. Basically a complete solid car. A perfect patina relic that I would like to have someday .....

It seems like every year there's one odd thing that shows up in multiples at the swap meet - this year it was antique Johnson outboard motors. I saw three or four of them, all identical to each other.

I still miss having swap meets and car shows at the racetrack - everything was nice and organized, and I liked driving in through the tunnel and revving my engine. :)

  6. oh****us..... how did you get that whole pile for $100??
or was it that only you spent that much ..
there were good deals but not that good of deals:D:D:D

I heard that was great as well, but the swap started at 6 AM with plenty of time to get to the 'other' show by 9.

I was going to go to the other show and drove by it on the way home but my arthritis was-so bad I could hardly walk so I drove on.
The turn out at the Anoka county fairgrounds looked huge, and a good mix of cars.

Well I finally scored a deal at swapmeet, I was looking for 50 chevy truck parts, and there was several people selling that stuff, got 2 rear fenders for $130, very clean .
I was late in coming(7:30a) and missed out on some stuff, but I didn't bring enough $. Finally the hoaders were letting go of stuff.

That must have been a long time ago (the swap at smaller venues), I think the roadster swap has been at the north parking lot of the fair grounds for at least 15 years if not more. Best swap meet of the year in MN.

    Mark,

My dad and I made it to the swap and still got to the "other show" you speak of before you. I saw you pull in a little after us. Early bird gets the worm! :) Looked for you but couldn't find you at the show.

Let's be honest. There was something very wrong about that swap meet. It wasn't snowing, it wasn't raining and there was no wind. You call that a swap meet? That was*****.

I stayed the heck away from that guy with the belly tank. I didn't want to find out by mistake that I could afford it.

The best item at the whole show:

Although, personally, I'd have hooked it up to a propane source!

I missed it as I was at the "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" Show! But a couple of my buddies made out with loot! but said there wasn't anything specific for my ride. So I guess I choose right as I had a really good time!

I guess Im not supposed to mention it (the show)!?

I made the trip out again this year, left home at 1 a.m. I bought an old weiand fuel block and a tach cup from the guy that had the carb tops and the cal custom scoops in****us's pic. got a few old SW tachs, and a stainless steel gas tank for my model A. alot of neat stuff to look at, wish I would have had more money and my pickup, cause I would have come home with a lot more than I did. the weather was perfect, I dont think I have ever left the roadster swapmeet disappointed, and I was home in time for supper, not a bad day huh Scott

I was standing right next to you then:), it was like a treasure hunt, stuff hiding everywhere! I found out later that the brother of the guy selling all the neat stuff had passed away a couple of years ago and now they were starting to sell of his collection. I knew alot of guys that new Bruce (the one who passed away) and said he was a great guy and had alot of neat stuff, but as he got older he kinda got a little weird and set out not talking to lots of his old friend and kept to himself. and that the man-a-fre was once owned but Fred Rowe.

Any one know Fred Rowe well? i was wondering if there was any other past history know on the intake, my dad use to hang out at Freds house in St paul when he was a kid.

hey jeff I got my stuff early in the am I had to use my flashlight to see the stuff that was in the box. I actually had one of the cal custom aircleaners in my hand and give it up to a guy standing next to me that had picked up the other one. I did see you talking to a couple of guys later, and was going to introduce myself, but your were busy...maybe next time, I think I saw your wife their too, she was wearing a stitch****** upholstry jacket......scott
