I'm with Fritz on this. I'm still dreaming about cutting up a truck and here you are welding this thing all back together! At least I've got that Edsel gauge cluster still!!!

    Um... YES!!!

That is exactly what the car needed. I love it! It works great with the square wheel.

Oh yeah, but the 200 MPH tape hood hold down will NEVER p*** tech inspection! Now talk to us about a front face bar!

looking REALLY good. When i see a thread that says "Telstar" it's always the first thing i click on. It's an ambitious project but it'll definitely be worth it!

i think i want to build a concave curved thin bar grille,, kinda like a 57 buick, except backwards if that makes any sense,,,i may do some small wraparound bumperettes, or maybe a chrome bullet for bumpers right below the buick lights..OR just leave the rolled pan if that makes it look too cluttered

just saw the twin windshield idea, my .02 is that it still looks cool but not nearly as cool as that low one you had mocked up before.

Jim, scheck out '58 Caddy FT. Bumper Upper Bar Overrider, has the shape and the coneular shape (rubber ***tie), that could be changed out for a chrome steel one, and the shape and scale "could'' work for ya. Also, a '54 Caddy Ft facebar, inverted ,has a shape that could work, but is alittle heavy for your front end, and comes with a heavy GM vibe.

I love this car. My only question is will you ever be truly finished? I think you have technically built like three or four cars on this build already! I think you need one ch***is that you can just interchange five or six different bodies onto. hehe.
    You rule.

  18. The only problem I see with the dual windshield...

    "Mommy, is that the Batmobile?"

Well, that and the one piece design you can probably rob the gl*** out of the back of some mid-50s car and build the frame to suit, the dual one will have to be made somewhere.

i was basically curious to see what it would look like,,,,
decided to put the regular chopped wraparound back,,,

  20. I'd say of the two I prefer the one-piece, but as far as the flow of the design really either way works.

in the very early mild kustom phase of the car, i actually made a floating grille bar from a 54 caddy facebar,,i mounted inverted dummy spots on each end,,looked pretty cool,,,,,not sure if a floater would be the way to go with this grille shell,,,maybe JamesD could photoshop one in there for me, , ,:)

jim, on the grill, I was thinking that bar would look great with something added in the center to fill the oval shape you have...take a peak at Dan Landon's barris built 49 chevy grill. ...lemme try and find a pic for you..

found a pic on Rikster's site(thanks Rikster for having all these pics!)

was thinking your bar you had previously made with some form of teeth(hand-made?) in the center...this is obviously different, but just trying to demonstrate the idea a bit

thanks lucky,,wonder if something like this could work with the grille opening?...this is a floating bar i built way back in the beginning of the build,,its made from a 54 caddy bumper overrider and dummy spots, , , ,i sold it a while back, but could easily build another one, ,

Here we go. One with the bullets and one without, which I personally prefer.
Actually I´d still go for the Kaiser grille.

    Hey Jim,
I'm thinkin the oem Shoe facebar is just to out of scale for the the front of the TELSTAR! Something on the order of alittle bigger than a '63 Rivi facebar, in scale would work better. As for the floating bar grille, as pictured, smooth & uncluttered, but predictable. That one would look good on a ''soft kustom'', something the TELSTAR never was! Maybe a sheet of thin stainless steel, punch pressed with random sized holes deeply in set to hide the core, with a very light floating grille bar out front?
I still like the '58 Caddy Ft. Bumper Overriders to be used as facebars on the front of the TELSTAR.

true, it is nice, but not enough....how about taking a chrome tube bent to mimick the shape of the opening, though a touch smaller leaving a gap and set in just a touch...this would then frame the perforated sheet that pimpin is talkin about, with the float bar, etc attatched to it?
