For the last few months i have been making changes all the way from Posie springs to lowering blocks and more to try to get the right stance i could live with, kind of like trying to find an electrical short. Here's what i finally came up with.OPINIONS BOTH POSITIVE OR NEGITIVE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.... Upfront thanks
Next time take the picture from the sunny side. Can't even see the wheel openings in the black fenders around the back tires in the black shade.
looks like the rear could come down a few more inches. And you could step up the front tire diameter - it looks a bit lost in there. I like the look of 6.50X16's all the way around- but maybe I'm biased (get it? - biased!)
IMO, it's not just the height, but how well the tires fill up the wheel-wells. It's a combination of both. You'd be surprised how taller tires can affect the look. (easy for me to spend your money!)... I believe it's more important than the actual height. Super-low is not necessary or even desirable sometimes. It is a truck. Granted, a little lower might be good, but if you plan on really driving it a lot, and even loading the bed sometimes, you have to consider the practical aspect. Good luck. -- Rick
Well I should probably apply Lesson #1, but f#@& it. Looks about perfect to me... I like the back of a truck to be up just enough to let you know that it could still haul a load if it wanted to.
I am generally concerned about dropping the rear much more,it's my shop truck and i have installed a reese hitch on her to haul my Model A around to all the car events. If i drop much it will look like the V emblem on a caddilac between the trailer and the truck Wish i could clone my fat ass so i could drive them both
Okay, now turn the truck 90* so the sun is actually hitting the side of the truck, which helps to highlight the wheel well area. Overall the truck looks great but agree, I think it needs to come down a little more, maybe 1" front, 2" rear. Still would have a slight rake to it but gets the tires to fill the wheel wells a little more. OR, you could say the hell with it and just drive the SOB. Again, Nice Ride!
I have a stock axle wit a posies reverse spring in the front. What route could i go at this point to lower her more in the front. The rear is no problem,I could simply install smaller blocks
Hey, it looks cool-drive it. If you want the perfect stance put in all new suspension with air bags, etc.
Brian, it looks just fine the way it is. Buddy, you know you will never please everyone so do the next best thing......PLEASE YOURSELF.
Wait until 2-3-4 O'clock when the sun angle is a little lower in the sky. Park the truck side-on to the sun and take the picture from the bright side. Noon time is not the right time to take side shots of black on black on black vehicles. The truck looks pretty nice as it is too.
I did a 3 inch drop axle up front with stock spring. 2 inch reverse eye posie in rear with longer shackles. Kept a 20 degree angle to the shackles. I think 30 is stock. Nice truck you have there. I have replaced the fenders on the front of my truck and I'll looking for some good steel fenders for the rear. These pictures are with the old front fenders.
all you need to do is lower the back 2 or 3 inches. almost level the truck out but not quite. Its to stink bug right now
Bingo... I think to my eye, 2" down in back and maybe an additional 1" down in front would be perfect...the only thing that jumps out at me is the rear wheel opening. It really stands out since the tire so closely matches the radius diameter. I think the 2" here would make a big difference. Having said that, if it effects the drivability enough to make you want to drive something else because of the impracticality of it. leave it as is. It really looks great, but fresh eyes can always find something... Todd
Do you like it there? That's what counts. My '51 wagon looks good, but it's really to low for towing, just like your concern. First off, it has to be functional...
I like the way it looks like that especially if used for towing. The big/little tire combo flows good.
One thing, and I"m surprised PasadenaHotRod didn't advise, is don't do anything until you've got a few hundred miles on it. My experience is the springs will settle 1" to 2" after they have a chance "work". After that you can make a smart decision on any alterations. Frank
hey BBOB... man i think its perfect! nice small rake, and plenty of room for load.you have done a wonderful creation on that old boy! but hell I LOVE OLD SCHOOL! can U dig it? i would kill for that truck hummm, just where do u LIVE? HA!...POP
