Thanks, Pete. Looking forward to seeing them.

  2. I chopped mine 6.5 inches, and if I left the windshield riser in, the windshield was tiny! I took it out, and redid the "A" pillars, and it is perfect, the windshield is about 12.5 inches, but with the visor, you only can see out of about 9. Here is a pic

  3. You might also want to look at the 37 ford tail lights, they are very similar. That is what I am running on my 30.[IMG]

Dang that chevy is looking good. I really think you nailed it. Hmmm. Maybe I shouldn't say that around chevys. Ya know with all the wood -n-all. :)

Thanks for sending it. I rolled it inside-out to help straighten it out. That thicker paper has a pretty good memory. :) I'm not sure I'll have time to match it to my frame before I leave for Famosa (the California Hot Rod Reunion) early Friday morning but will let you know if it's a match or not shortly thereafter.

30 3w might be coming my way as part payment on some resto work. I have not seen any more of it yet, so there is no way to tell how much got lost.

These parts shown have mint sheetmetal and zero rot or pits.

lots of wood is missing. It is a rumble seat with roll down rear window

  8. THANK YOU Ghost! Currently I am trying to get the two, two's figured out, as far as jetting and such. (what a pain in the &$$!) Now I know why most go with a four barrel. Once I get the mechanics all worked out, I will blow it apart and powder coat the frame and components, put the aluminum panels inside for the interior, and paint the body. It is going to be a lite gun metal grey with silverleaf and red pinstriping. The end result is supposed to look somewhat like an old skool race car. [IMG]

The 32 I built was in about that same condition, and pieces. If all the main body parts are there I'd jump on that. Looks like a fun build...John

  10. Hey guys,

Picked up the '28 chassis last night!!! I'm still giddy from the trip- will post pics after I get a chance to clean it down a little.

Was there someone who needed '28 doors? I got a pair of cabriolet doors in the deal.

Congrats on the frame. I believe 16oz schlitzman needed a rear door for his 28 but he might have gotten one...John

No. The '30 sheetmetal is same as the '29. '31 is much different. The A pillar slants back on the '31. Belt line on '31 is two small ribs, '29/30 is one larger rib.

What you prolly got was a 27 door. The beltline would be the same but the window height would be taller. But as you said it don't matter cause your gonna chop it ANYWAY. But it's good you found one...John

The 32 ford frame should work with some modification. But if you are running fenders you might check on wheel base comparison between the chevy and ford. As for your parts needed, they are out there you just have to be patient and they will show up. I saw your pics in your profile looks like a nice project to start with..John

The 28 frame will prolly be 107 inch wheel base. Other than that should be close to the same and usable...John

  21. ironheads,

If you don't use the stock '28 crossmembers from that frame, I might be interested in them- mine are a little "dog-eared" and pitted.

yes, 28/29/30 frame the same, complete change from 27. The 31 was 109 wb. Even though 28 had a 4 cyl motor, it was designed anticipating the 6 cyl. Production logistics resulted in the 6 cyl being delayed until 29.

Not trying to hyjack this thread. I'm posting this fyi on this thread because this is where the old bow ties are.

Anyone on this thread interested in 29 Chevy truck fenders? I'm not selling them, just trying to find them a home for their owner. They are in great condition, since I've seen them myself.:D Just pm me if you are interested.

I've kept my original engine, stashed away in my shop, merely because the only place a serial # is reliably found on a Chevy, is the engine block.

Not a Chevy, but I need some help. Does anyone here know where the VIN is located on a '29 Buick 4 door?? I currently have the body off the frame. Thanks, Joe.
