I posted the vids on my blog Hecho In Texas with the info I have on most of the racers in there. It looks like Don Garlits match race with San Antonio's Poor Boys C.C. Hank Garners "Texas Sun".

Again this is great video showing the best from Texas.

Anyone thinking of building a period correct drag car or even street car would be wise to watch these and see how stuff really looked like 'back in the day'.

Heres the photo of Honest Charlies candy red Ford I was talking about. It read he was out to brand everyone who was using parts from his catalog. This photo may be from Houston? I believe he is in video #7

It was cool to actually see this in action. Its like the photos are coming alive!

    Video #10 is up

1962 Green Valley Raceway with Greer Black Prudhomme, El Toro 666, Widdle White Wabbit and San Antonio's York Automotive and Bud Ward.

  20. ChevyRat, if you put these together on DVD you could make a healthy profit. I'd buy at least two!!

LOL - Got a few more hours of video to go. I'm running out of music to put with these clips. I'm hoping to put it all together on DVD after getting more info on the cars and drivers in the videos.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I love watching these little snap shots of Americana. Truly a simpler time.

  25. Do you still gotta have a stetson to race in Texas or have they let that law slide ;)

ChevyRat, thanks so much for posting your grandfather's priceless collection of vintage drag racing film footage... I tell my partners at Drag Racing Underground all the time that I firmly believe that those who go through all the incredible effort and time required to stand at the drags with a film/video camera on their shoulder, to film this often loud and volatile sport, definitely deserve to be nominated for Sainthood... Your grandfather is definitely a Saint in my book for capturing all these historic drag racing moving pictures... We're all blown away by these ultra-rare images... This stuff is well worth a million bucks in my opinion, and not one penny less!... Thanks again for sharing them with the tightly knit HAMB cyber gearhead community... I believe that you too should be nominated for Sainthood for posting them here, free of charge, for all to admire and adore... Thanks from all of us... You are absolutely one of the reasons why this place is a bona-fide sanctuary for those of us who've left the kindergarten-baby-bully sites behind to be part of this cyber address of hot roddin' wonderment... I am nothing short of amazed... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...
