Megan's here and we're going over our schedule for next year and would like to know when the Back to the Beach event is for 2010. Last year it was May 30th which was the weekend after Memorial Day. If they kept it the same weekend next year it would fall on Memorial Day weekend which is the Santa Maria weekend. Does anyone know what the date is for the Back to the Beach event in Ventura? What about the Primer Nationals for next year? Is that always on Labor Day weekend?? Thanks in advance
Beautiful Denise, Does this mean that you will be missing the Indy 500 with your pals? You KNOW you and Megan ARE invited as a part of our crew, Night Before Party, etc!!!!! Whatever you decide, we love you guys!!!! Eric
We REALLY need to clone ourselves..... No decisions have been made regarding Memorial Weekend yet sweetheart. We're just checking out our options. If we're not in California that weekend we would be honored to hang out with you and the boys at the Indy500 again. You are the coolest
Can't help with the Back to the Beach dates, but YES on the Primer Nationals always being held on Labor Day weekend. Juan on here is the guy to ask, might wanna try shooting him a PM.
Thanks bud, I've already sent an email to their website. Just waiting to hear back. Thought the HAMB masses might know already.
Dear Miss Denise, I'd understood that the late J. Edgar Hoover liked to play "dress-up'' in womens' clothing, but now Sigmunds in on the deal? Weird, really weird! "sorry, can't tell ya a thing 'bout "Back to the Beach in Venture/Ventura! Swanky Devils C.C. ' Humpty dumpty was pushed ! "
You never know where we might be I for sure wanna go visit my 'best friend in Ventura county' Kiwi Kev! I'll also be looking for Pinky, the 'V', and a 40 Ford coupe Have any other suggestions?
Visit the Mission on Main St. not far from the Avenue. I think Kev still lives on the other side of Thompson in the Sheridan Way grammar school area a few blocks west of Five Points. Ventura High School is at Main St. and Catalina and still looks very much like it did back in the day - except for the main brick building that was torn down - for 'earthquake' safety reasons although the guy who bid the job lost his aft side cuz the building didn't want to come down. The 'earthquake' safety bit was BS anyway cuz administration wanted more offices and couldn't get em any other way. Take a look at the courthouse on Poli at the top of California St. Right next to it is the road leading up the hill to the cross where there's quite a view. Vince and Pinky used to park on the other road leading out that was directly downhill from the cross and watch the ocean - sometimes. The cross proper may be gone by now, at least it is if the GD, bunch of MoFo's at the frickin' ACLU have anything to do with it. Bunch FU'd America Haters. Wall St. Not far from the Mission and the courthouse. This nice old Victorian is at the intersection of Poli and Catalina. The high school auditorium is directly across the street. The girl named Michelle in the Pinky book lived there. Be sure to take in Mugu Rock south of Oxnard on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). It figures strongly into the just completed book. Also one of the first things seen for many of the Vietnam Vets flying home after their tour.
WOW! Thanks Jay! Kinda like a personal guided tour. I think I'll give Pinky another read before this event and maybe jot down some notes of places I'd like to see. You're getting me real excited about visiting the area. Thanks!
You're welcome. Be sure to take in Santa Barbara right up the coast if you have time. A lot of it, the beaches, oil fields and town are featured in the next one.
Hi Jay, What book? Her name is Michelle Morrison, Sondra Roudebush lived across the street. Jan in Ojai, CA P. S. Ojai is pretty cool to see and do also, about 15 miles inland.

Also out of print, but used is available. http://www.amazon.com/California-Ho...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242244346&sr=1-1 The All American Hot Rod An anthology. Did one chapter in this one. http://www.amazon.com/All-American-...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242244636&sr=1-1 You can usually find this one in the bigger bookstores. Jan's right about Ojai. Nice town in a nice area of the county, but no beach....
You ladies have to go for a surf while your in town! Good waves right across the street from the show. Great way to experience Ventura, from the water. Shoot, I'll even supply the boards.
Will for sure be there with Big Olds...... half the reason is to attend your party.......if we're invited. and lessons so we don't kill ourselves??
BTTB was the week after Memorial weekend, supposedly on it's way to another date that wasn't yet available. However, i believe BTTB is under new ownership, and "may" cater to almost any year car in the future. I hope this helps, your still offended friend, Groucho
Do you still live in the area? If so, plan on me being in town at least for the Primer National over Labor Day weekend and depending on the date of the Back to the Beach event I might come to town for that as well. Would LOVE to do alittle LOTH cruzn.
There ok. But, there's this guy that looks a lot like Groucho Marks. He just needs a cigar and to say, "That's the crazy'est thing I ever heard!" Soon Groucho, soon I will visit your fine shop on the borderline of no where,.... er, I mean Sun Valley. I've just been super busy what with school and all. I do believe it is killing me. Yes mam. I still live and work in Ventura county and the city of Ventura itself. I just go to school and hang out in the Valley (L.A. county). LOTH cruz sounds good. Lets do it.
