Flathead, paint and chop it. I always say cut it if it don't work out that's why they make welders. haha

I'm retired, so have no customers to please. I would patch any rust through holes but I wouldn't paint it. I guess if it's a shop truck it depends on the mentality of your clientel. ??
Would potential customers be so lame-brained that if it were left unpainted, would that fact scare them off?

Didn't you have a survivor '34 sedan at BTT50s? How was that received?

Oh my goodness, the green one above is too cool. If it had an overhead conversion, a five speed, modern brakes and tires to make it safe, it may become so cool as to be un-insurable.

Brings back memories of the '28 AA Rack Body I had years ago. If that is a factory Express bed you need the long boards and aprons. Keep the original paint on your '32 and repaint this AA. OHV head on a B block and some modern trans and rear and you should have a good shop truck IMO.

Really cool truck but I think the whole "cool patina" ship has sailed on that one. That truck deserves to be spruced up a bit after all these years with some fresh paint.

Interesting that they were advertising "V8"s on a Model A with a banger.
I'd paint it but back to just like it was originally with the lettering, two tone and all. Ad your logo on some wood side rails or something.
Back to the doors, the truck is telling you it needs a flathead V8.

Put an old tow boom on the back, and dress her up like towmaters older sister. :) Leave the paint alone if possible.

Why not throw something up front that doesn't reek of fad or popularity?
    A 171 C.I.D. Ford V-6.
I had one in my Track-T, and the ******* would really **** and git when I stomped on it.
Mine was a West German variation.
Easier to fit than a flatty and more bang than the 4.
It'll definitely look different, not trendy or mainstream.

Paint it a factory color and build a hot banger. Maybe you can get the pieces at cost!

    Flatty with overdrive.
Leave paint as is for now, then repaint later if and when you decide.

Build a nice 8BA or flattie v8 for it and give it a clean and simple paint job!

Hey hey now, I didn't post anything about V-dubs! That was Harrison!

This car was apparently very rusty, quite similar to this truck I understand. THe guy tried the CLR trick, cleaned it up and did a quick clearcoat. Looks good enough to me...

Edit: this car is actually posted in that Chevytalk thread. That El Camino is amazing!

I am so tired of the patina thing. I think it has been played out. Most guys are just too lazy to make it nice. You have a reputation to promote. I say make it nice and paint it to promote your business. How about a quickie under that thing. Now that would be cool. Just a thought.

While I agree that the 'patina' thing is getting stale, I don't think the concept has anything to do with "lazy". It's just a fashion statement, just like the mullet was in the 80's. A few guys try it to be different, then everyone does it to be different, then they realize that everyone is doing so it's no longer different so they all got a haircut. That's how trendy things go. The nice thing about the 'patina' trend is that nobody's butchering nice old tin in order to participate. If/when the trend dies, the cars just get a bit of body work and paint and the world goes on. No harm, no foul.

    ;):p;)

It is amazing how welll that CLR worked on those Chevys. If I was close, I'd volunteer to try it on ****'s truck just to see how good it would clean up. That paint scheme was great at one time. Might still be.

I think ****'s customers know him well enough to know that, no matter what his shop truck looks like, he knows his stuff.

Hey ****! Man, I've got it. Break away from all this patina and flat motor ****. Get retro and be an individual, truly stand alone a**** the H.A.M.Bsters. Use a small block Chevrolet, Turbo 350 and 9" Ford rear. Perhaps a Mustang II front end, air, paint, chrome and power everything. Don't be crude, Dude, Do it right not rat. :eek:Get in touch with your rebellious side. Regards, Ron

For me new paint is almost "automatic", but this one is kind of different, no matter the choice, it will have it's pros and cons, but for sure, once you sand the truck there is no going back.

Maybe build it up, run it for a year or two without new paint and then paint it up later?

Then you can at least delay the inevitable posts about how you "ruined" that truck.... :D
