yeah,,and strangely enough there are lots of those good old unobtainable parts out there ,,Hell I see alot of old NOS suspension parts out there dirt cheap..but no one wants to learn how to install them ,,or pay to have some one do it..

Yes parts are expensive,,but most of those are the 'cool' parts that everyone just has to have..so much so that the repops are selling for as much as the original..

i'm not bad mouthing anyone for not seeing it my way,,I was just replying to a thread,,you seem to be just taking the thing to heart.

so spare me teh old traditional

"People building with what they can scrounge and buy for cheap is more in line with the original spirit and tradition of hot rodding"

That applies to anything,,so if I'd rather look a lil harder for a good older piece,,sma e thing,,s-10 you don't really have to look for,,and btw,,the price of them has gone up since they are the hot ticket now :D

and those who spend crazy $$ have it,,I certainly don't but I also knw what parts I want so I hunt em down,,it's really all about what it is 'you want'

    thats all ..

the guy asked a question,,so folks reply

and with that i'll walk away from this thread les it go on forever

  2. I have done the S10 swap to a 49' Fleetline. The car was really rotten and I was on a tight budget. It worked great with the deep channel, and I didn't sit funny, had lots of leg room, and the car drove great. Parts were cheap and reliable, and easily available.

It worked for me and I never had one person tell me my car was not "cool enough" because it had a frame swap.

I have a 49 chevrolet truck on an s10 frame and love it.....the next one I do will be on an s10 frame........the next one........the next one.....maybe I could put the next one on a log truck frame and start a new forum. Seems like anytime someone starts a good forum on here they get ripped for it.

Its NOT a good forum at all. Its been done a thousand times on this site already. The guy clearly has his opinion on these frames and using them under an old car. What are we suppossed to do ? Try to convince him otherwise! Quit beating this fucking horse to death already guys !! BTW I dont have a problem with s10 frame swaps But I dont need to justify my opinion on them to a message board either! If you dont like em dont use em its that simple!

the bad thing about S-10 frame swaps is too many dimwits think it is some easy way out and end up with a pile of shit since they have no clue what they are doing.

sometimes even when they do know what they are doing the resuts are less than satisfactory

I'd guess for every successful nice looking swap there are at a minimum 5 cars that end up in the scrap heap or built into a mess taht should be in the scrap heap..

Wow, there are alot of opinions on this subject and you know what they say about opinions.... There like assholes everybodys got one... and some of you guys take them to personal.......

  9. Very true. Its more work to throw an S10 from under a car than it is to upgrade a stock frame. Trucks, I don't know since I haven't built one yet.

I just want everyone to be clear, I have gotten exactly what I expected out of my time on this thread. Please pardon me, the laughter is making my sides hurt, I think I shall adjourn.

The devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a s10 frame to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos the build was way behind: he was willin' to make a deal.

When he came across this young man sawin' on a frame and sweatin alot.
And the devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a hot rodder too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you build a pretty good frame, boy, but give the devil his due:
"I bet a frame of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Johnny and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best rodder that's ever been."

Johnny you chop up your frame and lay down your weld.
'Cos hells broke loose in Georgia and the devil deals it hard.
And if you win you get this shiny frame made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.

The devil grabbed his mig and he said: "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he struck an ark down low.
And he laid down a bead and it made an evil hiss.
Then a band of demons joined in and it looked somethin like piss.
When the devil finished, Johnny said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son.
"But if you'll sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done."

Fire on the moun, run boys, run.
The devil's out in the shop havin fun.
Charlie's in the metal bin pickin' out scrap.
"Granny, does your S-10 look like crap?"
    "No, child, no."

The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
He laid that golden S-10 frame on the ground at Johnny's feet.
Johnny said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"I told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm the best rodder that's ever been."

And he bolted up the mounts, run boys, run.
The devil's out in the shop havin fun.
Charlie's in the metal bin pickin' out scrap.
"Granny, does your S-10 look like crap?"
    "No, child, no."

I don't know why I'm even bothering adding to this. Some people are closed minded and can't think outside of the box. I'm fine with that. I've put over 250,000 miles on my abortion of a pick up. Would I do it again? in a heartbeat!

The S-10 frame is the better frame for some of these trucks (cars I don't know about). Just like a 32 frame is a better frame for a model A.

Desoto ....Here's a pic for the cover of your book on abortions! :)

I was reading through this thread, listening to some tunes and all of the sudden Elvis started singing "A little less conversation, a little more action..."

and... that blue chevy is nice... regardless of what it sits on.

I must be doing something wrong! My Model A truck has a Model A frame, my 50 Stude and 54 Stude both have Stude frames, my 35 Plymouth has a "oh crap" a 37 Dodge frame, my Mustang doesn't have a frame and my 38 Chevy truck doesn't have frame yet either. Gonna have to get a S10 frame I guess.
