    One of the mechanics at work suggested once to use brake fluid to break loose all those little pieces of babbitt that hide behind all the trap doors and baffles in a racing pan. Works pretty good, don't know why it would work here too. Brake fluid doesn't do anything for the extra hole in the pan problem that also comes with the babbitt problem though.

    I use acetone and a brush and lots of shop towels. Just remember to stay the hell away from open flames!

    again pull it apart fill it with kerosen light it at night and sit back and have a beer
