Great, Great job! Hopefully this will inspire some of the kids in the world to put down the video games and pick up a drill......of course the kids on the HAMB already get that !

Jethro - very creative - we are all impressed.

Regarding the clear casting - I'm thinking you could just paint the steel rim first before the clear casting. Then you could make it match the interior or anything else....

Or you could put scorpions in it, like those bolo ties you can get in Arizona. I may have to build my own now.

  9. Awesome! Start cranking them out in different diameters and you've got a side biz on your hands...

Well, most of the leaves are raked . I guess it's time to get back in the shop. I've got a couple of ideas I want to try. The clear rim is one and the suspended scorpions would be cool but we don't have any scorpions here that I know of....found a couple black widows though....Funny this thread came back . It was March when I originally did this.
Thanks for all the kind words!I'll try and post something cool soon.

"If the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy". What a great job. I don't have a milling machine of my own, but a good freind does. Many thanks, have to try that out. Much appreciated.

I know that this thread is ancient.

The pix have disappeared due to photobucket's fiasco. I pm'd Jethro to see if he still had them, but unfortunately he lost them to a computer replacement.

I would have saved them to my computer if I had known that they would disappear from here.

Does anyone have these saved and if so would you please post them up for all of us to see gain?

    THANX!

    Hey Mike,
Sorry it took so long but I have added the photos but they don't line up with the text like they did in the beginning (shakes fist at the sky yelling"damn you photo bucket!")
Hope they help. If you need any more info PM me and I'll try and help

    Jethro,

    Thanx man.

I now have these saved to my computer.

I don't know exactly when but I plan to use this technique to build a steering wheel someday. Perhaps a 4-spoke sprint car/midget racer style wheel. Or maybe I'll rebuild the '37 (I think) Ford banjo wheel I've been saving.

    Anyway thanx again.

  20. How is the wheel holdig up after all these years?

No cracks yet!. The next one I will make the rim 7/8 inch instead of 1 inch... just a little big in the hand(that's what she said)
