  4. First ride was a '55 Olds 2 dr htp but that wasn't cool enough back then so it left in favor of a '57 Bel Air that is still in my garage.

Yeah, I know, ..... should have kept the Olds! But you gotta understand, .................. this was a looooooooooong time ago. Anyway, the B/A and I are becoming intimate again and hope to be back on the streets together next year.

  5. found a picture of my A , i believe it was taken in the spring of 1971 on the day i sold it

  6. This is my first ride back in '72, a 1959 Volvo 544 kinda like an old Ford. Bought it for $100 because it came with a new pair of studded snows and winter was around the corner. Drove it for a year and there wasn't one single day I didn't have to fix something on it. Learned a lot real quick.

My H. S. ride was a '34 PU. In 1959, I bought a pile of parts from a neighbor. It came with a complete drivable chassis and a Somerville, Mass (Ford operated rebuilding factory) fresh rebuild. Paid $150. Three years later I was tearing up the roads of S.E. Mass. Warmed over 21 stud, loud pipes and a big smile. I sold it in 1973 when my second child was born. 25 years later, I was contacted by the buyer. He had finally gotten around to finishing it. I was stunned to see how sweet it turned out.
Attached are my before and his after look. The before pic is what it looked like when I got out of the USAF in 1966. I had it back together and running for six more years before I sold it. The after pic is what it looked like when Rebecca took this picture, at the Gathering of the Faithful, last Saturday

This was my first car, a 40 merc. I never finished it in time to drive it to school. I got it when I was 14. The 62 Fairlane was the one I drove during 11th grade. I bought a 65 mustang fastback then a 51 merc when I was a senior.

My HS rides were a 60 Renault Dalphine and a 60 Impala 2dr hardtop after the Renault was rear ended my buddy in his 57 Chevy. Got my first old car while in HS but didn't get it running and drivable until I was out of school. Don't have any photos of the 60 Chevy.

Only 4 years, 3 of which I had my license. I would buy, trade, fix up, paint and repair vehicles as a way to earn a little money or when I got bored with what I was driving...
