Anyway, cool pictures of a rare car some yahoo found.
It was buried literally in cow____ up higher than the rocker panels, since 1969.

Someone bought it after I passed on it for $7500., les, less, less, and $1700. even.

If you see if for sale...again...look carefully at it!

But neat pics. I am still looking for one if anyone knows of any - THANKS.

That was very hard to read. Did you buy it, or do you just know about it? Is he/you selling it?

Its a 4 door Transcontinental. I've never seen one, til now, if its in good shape and all the trim is there I'd snatch it up! I'd pass on rodding it though, it would be worth more to a collector who really wants to restore it. Plus if your heart is really set on a Safari the 4-door is never going to be cool enough......

If that green one is anywhere near Oregon and has a big dent in the driver's door (that's what happens when you let the significant other use it for a daily driver and she just doesn't give a damn, I still to this day have no idea how she did it), it just might be my old one.

That "name your car" wasn't my thread dude and I don't feel superior at all, for all I know you're a rocket scientist. Your opening though, was confusing to say the least, good luck with whatever the hell you're doing:confused:

    There's a 57 Poncho gasser wagon on www.craigslist.com/reno

Go to the cars for sale listings and punch in "hot rod".

I identified the car since you failed to mention in your original post that it was a 4 door, which you can see from your pictures, well kind of. When I think Safari, I'm thinking 2-door station wagon and not the 4-door family truckster. Did they really slap the Safari name on a 4-door wagon? I'm not sure? Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to clear things up for everyone else who looked at this post. I was frustrated because I thought we were gonna see some cherry 2-door wagon for sale, for cheap... Kind of a tease of a post...

bryan6902, I made that same mistake a year ago. The two door, four door, and Nomad type 2 door were all Safari's in '57. I almost landed a 2 door in Kzoo area but let it slide when my son (who's project it would have been) decided that he liked the Nomad style only OR a TC. At 13, he'd already done his research and foudn the TC. It is a bitchen truckster but yep, a more door family cruiser.

If you look in Safariknut's garage, you'll see Nomad style Safari's. They be the coolest!

Now stationWAGONS posts 21-23 make little sense to me but post 1 basically tells me you know of a guy who knows of a car? When are YOU going to see it? I'd be concerned that sitting in the soil that long would have leached out some of the minerals in the metal so it may LOOK good, you need to FEEL it. I scored some beautiful '54 Bel Air parts like that once only to find they were not much thicker than good tin foil. 40 years under the trees is not supported if the cowl vent didn't fill. I'd call BS on that one and believe what you see, not what they say. Good luck on landing the car. It is a rarity, for sure. A rod, nope.
