don't know if thats going to happen.the mayor is trying/going to close down/sell the fairgrounds property. pretty much a done deal, unless the lawyers get involved, earl schieb on here has a show/swapmeet just out side of nashville the first weekend after news years every year,i think jan 1st is on a wed? this year, not sure tho, so check with him. but i figure he'll see this post anywho.mike yous out there? trying to help your show here
Make a short run up to Bowling Green and see the Corvette assembly plant and museum.I think you have to call ahead now to reserve a time. Or...bar hopping along the river.
yeah what Don said If you wanna hit the Corvette Museum, pm me---I'll send you some passes. My show/swap is the following weekend, so that's out(thanks for the plug, Bruce) Or you could spend your time at the Gold club....or Deja Vu Jack Daniels' Distillery tour in Lynchburg is neat. I've been 2-3 times, and always enjoy it. Plenty of antique stores around(yeah, I've found car stuff in 'em ) And of course all the music stuff--CMA hall of fame, Bluebird cafe, Tootsies(go drink a beer there just to say you have)clubs in Printer's Alley,Zanie's comedy club, etc Weather can be anywhere from 25-30 degrees and dreary to 50 and sunny--it's a crapshoot. C'mon homies, think of somethin' for this guy to do
Well.....one other thing..I enlisted in the service in Nashville and there was this "seviceman friendly" hotel with this really friendly girl............
im not neccessarly talkin car car stuff but im usally not into the tourist b.s., cool bars, little food places, live music, that type of stuff. i do love traditional country music so any local places staying true to the steel guitar or twang. i live in so cal but the last place id tell a visitor to go to is Santa Monica or Hollywood i
Lived in Nashville area all my life. You must go to the Station Inn. http://www.stationinn.com/ If you can go on Monday, the Time Jumpers are amazing. Also, take the NashTrash tour. It is funny as hell. http://www.nashtrash.com/nashwhat.html Eat breakfast at the Pancake Pantry, http://www.thepancakepantry.com/ The best grilled cheeseburger you will ever have http://www.rotiers.com/ Visit the Opryland Hotel to see the Christmas lights http://images.google.com/images?hl=...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CBsQsAQwAw
Old Crow Medicine Show at the Ryman will be great especially with Chuck Mead from BR549, he's a super nice guy. Riding around on Broadway and surrounding streets is pretty cool. Make sure you go in Ernest Tubbs Record Shop. Check Nashville Scene online to see about any other music going on while your in town. If the weathers crappy Opry Mills is a good place to kill some time.
yeah ive been following o.c.m.s. for a few years now and catch them every time they come through L.A. they never dissapoint and continue to raise the bar
If that's your deal, make sure and hit Tootsie's on Broadway, lots of country music history. http://www.tootsies.net/index.html
Check out the Travis Mann Band at the Full Moon Saloon on Broadway. They play Friday and Saturday nights. Great rockabilly sound and alot of fun. They don't come on till after 10:00pm.
Make reservations very early (weeks) and see a late dinner show at the Bluebird Cafe. Sitting 3 feet away from some of Country Music's best while they do their thing in a living room atmosphere is a bucket list experience. Check the calendar and choose a show featuring someone you can identify with. It may require a little google research to find out who writes for who, or once played with so&so. Worth every bit!
i second that on the Jack Daniels distillery. the history and techniques are neat, and whats even more amazing is the tax revenue the govt gets from it all
3 words for ya Roberts Western World. Ike Johnson on Tuesday nite followed by Phil Hummer. Steer clear of Tootsies man its no fun. Ernest Tubb records is a must see( the real one down town) Take the ryman tour, and the hall of fame for sure it's all in walking distance . Give my love to Ike and don't forget to tip Lizzie. Jacks BBQ dont forget that
