Revell's '40 Ford Standard builds up into a very nice piece.

The paint is Gloss Gull Gray and the interior is gray two-tone.

The engine is a later flathead with Ardun heads and eight carbs!

    Beautiful build, Drew.

This is the same kit with the Deluxe grille grafted in from the convertible kit.

  8. zed how are getting your foil so smooth. Every time i try it allways gets ripples in it from pulling it off the backing paper. Right now i'm using model master product as any bare metal foil i've seen lately is so thin you can see the breaks in it if you hold it to the light

I have always love the 40 Ford, and Revell did a fantastic job on the 40 Ford kits, convetible, coupe and whatever they will bring next based on this. Both samples here are looking mighty fine to me.

Zed... ZED!!!! Gloria looks fantastic. But you should not have mentioned the gost lines... I had not seen them before, but now you mentioned them I see them.. Iguess the primer you used did not really seal the body work and the wet color or possibly clears got thru to the plastic...

However it does not take away for the fantastic paint job... The lay-out you designed for this 58 is just stunning.... And the chrome "tape" on the top is so perfectly don.
Looking forward to see all the chrome and interior done on this one... and your upcoming 56 Chevy :)

Don't know, it's just some average BMF chrome ... may be it look smooth because i clear after foiling ... :D

Dam guys......fantastic work........makes me want to start building models again.

  12. Wow, fantastic job!!! What paints are you guys using? I have a couple of the same '40 Ford kits, still stuck in the boxes, waiting for the day when I have the time. Coincidentally, I also picked up a fairly trashed one in a huge box of builtups I scored at the flea market for 5 bucks. I'll probably end up butchering that one into some sort of wild 60s kustom.
Hey, a quick side note, I run an e-mail forum on Yahoogroups called carmodelers, and if any of you are interested in joining up, we have over 700 members, and we'd all love to see more of your work and discuss techniques. Check it out:

Thanks for the kind of word Rik ! Glad ya like it ! :D

Those ghost line are a ****in nightmare ! the front p***enger fender look almost cracked , that's ugly ! it's a chance it can't be seen on the pics and don't really ruin the look ! i will change the clear, and may be the primer too ! that ****s ! :(

and... you're right, the 56 is gonna be paneled too ! :p

Damn nice work guys! After a year or so I'd put my models in the oven and gett'em real warm and soft, then make them look like they hit a tree or got T-boned or something. Morbid, I know but not much to do in a little podunk Kansas town in winter.

Mine was done with plain ol' Testors Model Master paints. It's just about all I ever use.

I'll repost what I posted in the other thread.......

Finished this one up a couple weeks back, just ain't been around on a Sun to post up the pics. Its the reissue of the MPC Double Flip F100, mostly box stock. I did scratch-build a rear bumper (gotta transfer the weight!), as well as scratching the front leafs & a tube axle. I removed the running boards, trimmed the front fenders for clearance, and added parts box f&r wheels & front skinnies.

Flaked the roof of a '62 Buick yesterday and today. Made my own lo-temp oven for paint curing. It's in there as we speak and will come out in a while. Next weekend, tape off the flake and throw down some metallic blue. white and blue pleates inside and a nailhead under the hood w/ some reverse smoothies and pinner whites will finish it off.

I belong to a model car club out of Davenport Iowa called Kustom Kemps in Mini and one of the guys put out a challenge to select members. He took Keith Weesners artwork and matched different art pieces to the different members building style, so now we have to build a car to match the artwork. Anyhoo, there's a little more to it than that but here is the car I'm building. A 32 Duece named "Down and Blue".

Cut the rear end a little differently than I normally do to get it down where it's needed.
