Happened on this old 1950 Prevost Bus to-day, thought you might enjoy the pics. No it is not for sale, nor is it a barn find just laying beside the barn.

I have ben RVing for 25 years and love to see old camping trailers, MHs and busses.
Does it have a SBC engine and a Mustang II front end?

Is it a motorhome conversion or still a standard bus?
I saw an old Flxible which was converted to diesel pusher, painted the old blue with white pontoon "fenders" scheme years ago at Borwnwood State Park here in TX. The front 3rd of the bus was standard bus seats, the next 3rd kitchen and dining, the rear boudoir and bathroom. Some nice folks from Lubbock owned it and said they drove it all over the US.

It is a conversion that was started 10 years ago, not quite finished, powered by original Detroit Diesel, they are also presently converting to an automatic trans from the original standard trans.

That thing is COOL! The "Buck Rogers Spaceship"
styling of that thing is absolutely gorgeous!
Modern-day Prevost coaches are still being built in
Quebec (unfortunately they're not styled like this
anymore though!) and are considered to be the 'creme
de la creme' of coaches by bus lines, tour operators,
RV converters and other users. I didn't know that
Provost went back that far though. I wonder when
Prevost started building buses?? As for it not being a
"barn find".... well maybe not, but even if it wasn't
found in one, it's just about as big as one!!! :D<LOL>

  10. Reminds me a bit of the bus that would roll into Mayberry every so often on the Andy Griffith show. You don't see very many old buses around.

  12. Local guy has one very similar he runs back and forth to Tunica, MS. Manual transmission.

At any speed over 60 the engine access door in the back floor blows open and fills the cabin with diesel fumes. Found the guy with the biggest cooler, used it to weight the door shut.

Here's an interesting link for anyone wanting a little history lesson on these buses.

    http://www.prevostcar.com/cgi-bin/pages.cgi?page=about

Looks like all Prevost vehicles have always been built in Ste-Claire, Quebec (near Quebec City). There are a few addresses for Parts and Service Centers all over North America, but only one address for the manufacturing facility at the same address as the corporate headquarters.

Hmm??? I can see it now in my dreams ....a
full resto and an aircraft-type polish job on the
aluminum bodywork, a modern-day deluxe RV
interior, AC, P/S, air ride and polished Alcoas
all around.....and that 6-71 yanked out and
replaced with either an 8V92 Detroit or a 3406
Cat ....turned up to about 650 hp!!!!:eek::eek::D

Hey Mart3406, we seem to think along similar lines. Heres a pic of my dream. 1955 Gm Scenicrusier. I've yanked out the old 8v71 natural and replaced it with a 8v92 turbo after, at about 425hp. Done a lot of other mechinal stuff. Next up is the interior, custom motorhome. Will eventualy be my Bonneville crusier.

I love those classic "story and a half"
GM Scenicruisers They're another of my
"what if" and "if money were no object"
dream vehicles! By the way, did you know
that "back in the day" Greyhound Canada
    wanted/needed more power in their
Scenicruisers used on some of their western
Canada routes and had a number of them
fitted with "Buzzen Dozen" 12V71 Detroits.
That was a bit before my time so I never
got to see or ride in one with a V12, but
they must have run hard and sounded oh
so sweet! By comparison, the original
U.S-spec Scenicruisers used a pair of
110 hp 4-71s, later converted to single
250 (and later uprated to 275? hp?) 8V71s
once that engine became available. Your
425 hp 8V92T conversion must be really
    sweet!

I had heard rumor about some buses with a 12V, but never knew they were in the Scenicrusiers. Bet if ya dropped the clutch in reverse, the earth would have spun backwards. Must have been like standing next to a locomotive. I sure would like to see one if any are still around.

Here's big and ugly and a 12V-71 all in one package. MC-6.

Only built by MCI for a short time. they were too wide, too long and heavy. Illegal in most of the US.

lots of Flxible coaches around, some were originally motorhomes, most were buses. Lots of engines used in them, from 235s to buick straight 8s to big gas GMC V6s and detroit diesels....I think they were all pushers.

Here, I will post the picture he was trying to put up.
I believe the driver of the bus was inside getting some popcorn and dryer sheets.

I don't know if this is still there but this bus was used as a barrier in Tijuana back in the 90s. I always thought it would make a great RV. Open up the picture and check out the cool aluminum strip that's painted over on the roof.

Sidedump - there just might be 12 in there.

Fiat128 - All those buses in the late 40' and early 50's were all really art deco works in design. They all had some really neat looks and features.
