  2. Huh?

The rule applies equally. I don't need to reply to every case of breaking it in an individual thread. This thread is a good example of why not to post little political comments.

God bless you bro, hang in there. You did the right thing by taking care of your little ones because when they get older you guys will be building hot rods together! I seen many father son and father daughter hot rod projects. I always see happiness in the old man's eyes because he is more proud of his kids than the bad ass car they just built! You are a good man who did the right thing for his family!

Time for me to get this off my chest...

First off I am really sorry to hear you have to sell your truck. I guess we can all count our blessings that we have the skills and money to create them if they are needed to sell for other needs.

    Secondly..
I have been working for 39 years now. Lost a good paying job during every recession along the way. (no bull here) This one recession too.
The poor management of government and industry really frustrates me.
This country, laborforce and the productive spirit is going to hell in a handbasket.
We can blame the greedy investors, bankers and all the political groups who have and had the power to change it years ago.
I dont feel a bit better......

Yeah but your doing it for your family and that says alot about who you are as a father and husband. You can always buy another car but you can never replace the time with your kids and family. Family means more!

I just found it telling that you only called out the two that fall on one side of the spectrum ( me and manyolcars) quite promptly and not the other (executioner).

as intelligent beings, we have the ability to process information and apply points that best fit our situation.

i believe the main point Ramsey is trying to put across is not to live beyond your means... SAVE money vs. spending it.... even when times are good.

a lot of people live well beyond their means because it makes them happy....or, they are following their dreams. thats cool... in the short term its cake and ice cream, but those people sacrifice long term stability and happiness.... refer to the "three little pigs" story....

regardless of ones politics, every American needs to buck up and start saving for their own future. sometimes that means our quality of life needs a trim.

Bbobb I am sorry for your loss, but applaud you for putting your family first. I am sure you will find your way through this with your priorities straight.

We can leave politics out of it,but for those who lived the last 15 years spending beyond their earnings, putting things on Easy Credit, buying a house you couldn't afford but hoping the market would continue to climb-you have only yourself to blame. No government, no banker forced you to do that, they merely took advantage of your greed and poor judgment.

I am not a big fan of on-line economics gurus. They're usually selling something, too. But the advice is sound. The advice your mom and dad who lived through the depression, the advice of your grandparents-don't spend beyond your means, put away your savings first, plan for a rainy day, if you can't afford it, don't buy it. If we, the working and middle class, had always done that and not bought a piece of pie in the sky or bought into the hype that we always had to have the newest, biggest toy-we'd all be a bit better now.

Tonight, if you can go to bed with a roof over your head, food in your stomach, reasonably certain your family will be safe for tomorrow and have hope that better days are ahead, even if that's all you have you are stll better off than the majority of your fellow humans on this planet.

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. I hope it's of some consolation to know that most of us who own small businesses are going through the same thing. It's sad that our generation will never even make as much money as our parents did, but we are independent and strong, and the whole world can kiss our asses!

If you were around me, I'd surely pay you to paint my house.

I get so f-ing mad when this country and its good citizens are sucking wind right now, but yet our armchair warriors throw BILLIONS away over in that quagmire called afghanistan.

    Will we ever learn?

Thanks for all the thoughtfull replies folks.

I really was not trying to whine or make any type of political statement just venting...again thanks!!!

There is allways in my opinion a little good that comes from a little bad.

My wife recieved the cashiers checks at 10 oclock this morning and by 2pm today my wife went on ahead and payed tuitions.car payments and all the rent bill up to the end of the next sumester for my two girls that go to school at U of T at San Antonio.

What a relief that was to get that behind us.Living paycheck to paycheck with that hoovering over me was a nightmare.

  21. The Hot rod has always been my passion and a pacifier to everything else... and when the economy cycles and rears it's ugly head... it's time to get the priorities right and hunker down.

Having a Hot Rod when you can't afford it is like "Buying a round of drinks" with your rent money!

Do you know anyone who wants to buy a Roadster...!

  26. BBobb,

That was quite simply a GREAT thing that you did. Yes, it sucks to give up something that truly plays a role in defining who you are-that's what our rods and hobby does, it plays a huge part in what makes us who we are as people. You're not being selfish for being upset over losing it. Not that you would, but don't make those close to you feel bad about your sacrifice, they will understand on their own. May be down the road but they will realize what you did for someone you love. And, it will make them better people, too. Meanwhile, when know one else is looking, pat yourself on the back man, you deserve it. That was (and I mean this) a GREAT thing you did and you will sleep well tonight my friend. I am humbled.

Yes sir they do,however there jobs are part time. They are full time students.I will not allow them to work in a bar or restaurant that would require them to work till late late hours of the night, therefore they work for minimum wage in the mall that closes at 9 pm for there spending money.

    Hey Bob,

Sorry to see yet another in tough times. I didn't get to read past the first page of replys so for give me if this was said or answered already...

Is it possible to make that 39 (which is gorgeous by the way) a daily driver! Perhaps you could get more money for your current daily driver to get you through the tough times! You are luck to live in the part of the country where you can drive a rod year round without worrting about icy or salty or icy and salty roads in the winter... just a thought.

    Good Luck.

Good- as a college student I'll be the first to admit I don't pay all the bills, but I do have a part-time job and I am taking on some student loans. I hope you'll be able to build something else after school is payed for. I really hope your daughters realize what you've done for them too. I know a lot of kids (even me sometimes) don't see what their parents sacrifice to make to make their children's lives better.
