    Hey MoFo's

I need some help with a project I'm working on...

I am looking for Drake Watercooled Knucklehead motor parts, pieces, literature, Photo's Ect..Ect...

They were used in Midget Race Cars in the late 1930's & 40's

Good or Bad or broken or pieces I'm interested.

PM me here or email popeofwelding@gmail.com if you have or know of stuff.

    Thanks
    jesse

Jesse, I'd PM Speedrome (Bart) here. He's very knowledgable about early circle track stuff. He restored a 40's hillegas midget, and is currently doing a sprint car with an Offy. He knows alot of Old Timers that might know too..

I think there is a guy in Fallbrook that has quite a few of these engines.

I sold him a 37 rearend. I will search for the number.
He said he worked on the beginning of the VECTOR super car. If that triggers anyones memory.

This is the Pop Dryer built "Catfish" that ran a stroked Knucklhead. I sold it about an hour after I got it home in the early 1970's not knowing a thing about its history. Carlheim is another watercooled Harley conversion, I think they were flatheads, used bronze heads.

I don't know what project you're working on, but I hope that engine's visible! Never knew they existed, they're a thing of beauty.

I have seen exactly ONE of these setups in my entire life, before I knew just how ignorant I really am. It was at a swap meet in 1987 at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Connecticut. I can't remember the price exactly, but it was under $100. I thought it was some weird foreign thing and just walked on by. At least now I know that I don't know anything.:(

Am I wrong or was it Dale Drake that did the conversion to water for midgets and he was the Drake in Meyer Drake that bought Offenhauser?
