Old cars and car shows suck.

  2. Damn I live in Ypsi for 40 of my 41 years and moved to the Philly area earlier this year. And NOW you put on a show there. Well instead of a 5 mile ride to the show venue i will have to make a 560 mile trek. KOOL BEANS !!! The area does have so much more to offer the whole family going to your show Alan. Yeah the weather could be crappy but hell its Michigan. It could be crappy in July too. They shut down the road through town every thursday night in the summer for a cruise night so the town will be cool with us car guys showing up. Just watch out for the boneheads trying to ride their bicycles thru.

I'm with you on needing Churros at the NW show. I'm even willing to have it placed right next to our booth...if that helps at all. :D

Well, unless something major changes, I'm gonna say count me out. We're going from 40 mile one way to 80 miles one way.

8mpg@ $4+/gal (50/50 race gas and premium unleaded). Doubling the fuel bill is definitely cost prohibitive. Not to mention, working the show last year meant that I had to get up pretty god damned early, pissing off the neighborhood and potentially the cops. Now you want me to make that happen an hour earlier?

On top of all of that, last year it was mentioned that they may need to rent me and my PA for the bands in '10... so now I have to get my Hot Rod AND my van down there? The extra 80 miles round trip is starting to seem like an even bigger deal!

Call me a bitch all you want; I'm ok with it... But, I guess I am kinda looking forward to a new Billetproof shirt that instead of "DIRTY LOUD & FAST" says "Pretty greenery, with a cute little river, and fancy restaurants all around!".

I look forward to BP with my kids every year. I would rather have had the swap in the gravel and have us park in the grass out back at Davisburg like I mentioned to Alan at MI BP last year. I have towed my now 16 year old's project pick up the last two years 100 miles each way with a 454 dually so I know what it costs to run it but I do it with a smile, even after blowing a tire and not being able to get the rim off the last 6 miles in. I did it so HE could drive his truck in and have a blast with his little brother. He made BP 08 DVD and got interviewed by Cruisnews, not bad for 16.

As for Ypsi, I work there, great. I get to go to work...but I'll take a hot rod with me! I don't care about the river and stuff, its about the people. I don't care about the bars or the food, its the people, I don't care about fishing from my front seat, its the people.

I'll be at BP Michigan on 15 May AND I'll be at Davisburg on whatever the hell day in June! See the Nightmares at one, the other, or both.

I have one question, what's up with us in the North East? Don't we count? Where is our Billetproof show? Oh ..........wait is it in Florida? Because so many of us migrate down that way ...........lol.........but seriously is there gonna be a North East Show? Many of us from up here would most likely go to it.

I'd just like to say. Smart move! Not just because it's much closer to me. But Davisburg has nothing to compare to Ypsilanti. This will turn into something much bigger than the other location. There is plenty of room and the pre and post parties that will spring up will be Awesome.

Yes Kirk that is my quote. Some days I feel like that, most days I don't or else I wouldn't have built and driven old shit on a daily basis for the last 35 years. I am the no style chicken shit who inspired the Poorboys and Peckerheads to do a Billetproof show here in Michigan. With all the clubs hard work and effort we produced a good show that may have helped you get a good price when you sold Billetproof. Dude you have enough style for both of us. Your the only guy I know who can sport green socks with shorts and look cool doing so. I still luv ya man! As Alan stated in a thread you have to book a venue well in advance. With Alan's nod, we booked Davisburg the day of the '09 show for the 2010 show. Unlike some people, we stand behind our word and won't let the Fairboard down. Since we started promoting the same time same place for 2010 date at the 2009 show we feel we have an obligation not to change the style of show even though there will be one two weeks before. So if by me posting that the Davisburg show will go on makes me a no style chicken shit than so be it. I still have high regard for you and Alan and wish you both the very best. After all, you guys are the most stylish promoters I know.

you understand that I offered to pay for the deposit, if any, on the fairgrounds right? Events come and go from venues, thats the nature of the beast. Boomer-Rama doesnt happen any more... is that Boomer not standing behind his word and letting the Fair Board down? Hardly.

the accusations and spin is getting a little wild... why dont you call me 916-207-4645

Working on the NorthEast Billetproof show. Dont know if there will be one in 2010. We'll see. Had some promising leads, but have had to change strategy and dont know if there is time to do it justice this year.

ya know... this is getting a little stupid. I've offered you discussion via PM which you have refused. I've offered up my phone number which you havent called, and you are actively campaigning against my business... which is how I feed my family and live indoors. That is an extremely hostile act, and something I dont take lightly.

All for moving the venue of a hot rod show. Frankly I dont understand.

feel free to call me - 916-207-4645

Car guys bitching about having to drive their cars alittle further from their house to attend a show...... 60 whole fucking miles, unbelieveable

mamma, mamma, make the world come to me....I don't wanna drive!

Ya know... I've said i would support a show two weeks after Billetproof in Davisburg, even help promote it...

but its being presented here in a hostile fashion, as an "up yours" to Billetproof for changing venue. Perhaps I'm taking it wrong, but I dont think I am based on the posts and PM's. Something that is actively seeking to hurt Billetproof, and thats not something I take lightly... and frankly dont understand why, and reflects poorly on those involved.

Perhaps I'm wrong, maybe I've mis-understood. Perhaps someone should contact me and lay it out.

Alan, until you talk directly to a PoorBoy or Peckerhead (FlatheadPete and HotRodstohell aren't) I wouldn't worry about what is being said on here. Call Roger, Tim or Boomer when you get a chance. They are all level headed, intelligent guys that can speak for those two clubs.

If both clubs bow out there are plenty of others that would be willing to step in to help out knowing that this is a smart move for the tradtional hot rod scene in the Mid-West. This event is on it's way to actually growing substantially for many years to come. I do believe this will now become a weekend distination event for out of town hot rodders. New cars for folks to check out and new people to meet and get to know. Win/win for everyone involved, including the state of Michigan, which could use a major event like this is going to turn into, to bring money into the local economy. Thank you for being brave enough to make the change.

I am a fan of Billetproof WA, have been there both years and even if it moved north to seattle we would still take our family there. You and the help you acquire for the shows are great and I would assume it will continue to improve. I can't believe all of the people that bitch bitch bitch about stupid shit. They are the same people that probably bitch about everything else in there life. Don't let it bother you, you can't help it. For those that would have to drive a little further, just be glad that some fellow that has to count cans to pay his way there now doesn't have to count as many, coming from the other side. Count your blessings, Joe. See you in July

Ill look forward to the new venue. Have to choose a show and I'll pray for good weather. AND get that dang 348 back in the Impala so I don't have to ride shot gun as my Deuce is a streetrod................. e-gads. I said it. They did let it in The Relix Show at Hickory Corners though. :)

BTW these people bitchin about driving a few more miles.................... What the hell did you build/buy a car for? Getting there is 50% of the fun. If you don't enjoy the journey maybe you should stay on the porch. Check out Denise's trips on here. Looks like a blast to me.

I didn't speak for a club that I don't belong to; I was speaking for ME, personally. I DO happen to belong to the NIGHTMARES CC, which was part of the crew running the show in '09, so I don't think that my sentiments are totally unqualified, but whatever... I never said don't have the show, or don't move the show, or anything to that effect.

I simply stated that the new venue will likely price the show out of my reach; and I may have insinuated that people bitching about parking their cars in a parking lot instead of the grass may be attempting to pussify the show a little more than I think it should be. Do you disagree with that?

It's your baby... do with it what you will, and I wish you luck all the way there.

and for those concerned with the weather and missed the link in DeucePhaeton's other post, Mays avevage high for the month is 70 degrees.

May's average precipitation is 3.05 inches total
June's average precipitation is 3.55 inches total....a half inch MORE!

May is DRYER then June in Michigan on average.

I do take exeption to is the "screw them" type of attitude and the "come to OUR show, not Billetproof" kind of thing that has been posted. Its divisive, has no place in the traditional hot rod hobby and frankly reflects poorly on those involved. Particulary when there is an opportunity to have two really good traditional hot rod events that DONT compete with each other... but yet it seems like this is being made into an "us vs. them" thing.

Pussifying a show by putting cars on grass instead of dirt? Really? Is anyone REALLY that out to prove how HARD CORE they are that parking on grass is too soft for them? I mean come on. Look, if any one thinks that parking on grass in the shade makes them a pussy they can jump out of their car and face dive into some available gravel to prove how tough they are. I mean for cripes sake...

as for ya'll being a part of the show in 2010... I havent even had a chance to talk to the Nightmares, PeckerHeads of the PoorBoys to see if ya'll want to continue to be part of Billetproof... only to be faced with this whole.. .we are doing our own show maaaaaaan... .screw them maaaaaaaaaan... dont go to that show, come to ours.... Accusations corporate greed, calling me someone that doesnt stick to my word and active attacks on my business.

and frankly I dont understand it, particularly since the clubs and I havent talked yet and all of this is out of the blue. Pretty puzzling.

  25. What the hell!!! First the southwestern Cf show goes byebye, sloan goes to crap.st ignace is to damn for away, goodguys left. Then billetproof comes and fills the void for there not being any shows in our area . What some one listening to nsra "now this is how to screw up a good thing". Detroit area has enough damn shows. There are plenty of venues to hold the show at in the area or " lets see leave it were its at "

Well I have not talked to ANYONE about any of this... in my club OR the others, so like I said, I was speaking only for myself. I don't know ANY details of what's going on in Davisburg, and I haven't even mentioned that...

As for the grass thing, I was trying to make the point that these people think that it's ok to talk shit about me "whining" because I say that the difference between a $50 fuel bill and a $100 fuel bill could be a deal breaker for me, yet these people are the same ones that bitch about parking in a PARKING LOT. That's NOT whining, but me saying that I can't afford the extra $50 is? Whatever... if these are the kind of people that are gonna be at the new venue, it's probably better that I won't be able to make it anyway...

to be honest... no one whined to me about the parking lot in davisburg.

I just thought a park with grass, trees, shade, river ect.... would be a nicer venue than a dirt parking lot. Not that the lot was "bad", it has its own charm ;), a dusty hot rod is a happy hot rod in my book. Its just that Riverside Park is just made for a car show, and it happens to be nice and pretty.

dont get me wrong... I'm not trying to stir up shit... just trying to understand what is going on and why.

my apologies if I offended or accused unjustly.

HRTH, I'll cover $20 of your $50 since I'll only be going 1/2 way.

Alan - if it were me I might ask the moderator to get involved.....these guys sure seem hostile to the Billetproof show to me......but really - you have 2 people that are upset for whatever reason....and there is nothing you are gonna be able to do to satisfy them so just consider them lost and keep on with the positives. I wont be able to go to a lot of your shows - but not because I dont want to.

I think your stuff will be successful cause of the amount of effort you put in.

And the people up in the northeast should go support the Milltown. That is on my list for 2010 fer sure - that is a great show.

I will be hitting the NE this year for that and the NW this year for Billetproof......at least I hope to!

I could not get to WA last year but totally wanna hit that one - the cruise sounds amazing.
