i think someone might see them and wish they'd never stated that you can't weld a forging. They look decent to me but like a lot of things, someone's gonna have to go first and report....
I always woundred why no one made them, but I dont really see the point. You can still get unsplit wishbones for near dirt cheap and splitting them is no big task, even if you pay someone to weld the bungs on it would be half the price of those.

i've had a few pairs of these now and they are very good, You pay your money and take your choice as i see it, I just had a set chromed and they were much cheaper than chroming a stock old pair.
i was waiting for this thread to pop up , i noticed them too ! but yeah for that price i'll keep get'n them outa the junk heep spliting them and milling my own holes ! unless as stated i wanted a nice set to chrome !
I just ordered a set yesterday. I am going to put them on my Lakester which will run at Bonneville. I have two reason for not using old ones. One- as someone already stated its a new part, not somthing that has been sitting outside for 60+ years. I just feel alittle safer with a new part at 100mph +. Two- I am on a huge time crunch with this project and it is easier to just order them and put them on. They will prob be the only peice that isnt going to need a ton of work. It will be like a mini vacation bolting them on! haha. When I get them I will take a few pics and tell ya if I think they were worth the money. Mike
Ok, I can see using them on a car with a deadline that money isnt as big of a deal, or from a shops view point. But as for me building long term projects were my time is free, trying to save every doller possible I wouldnt use them.Definitly keep us posted on them.

tube material is 12 gauge .1046" thick....i believe the old original ford bones are thicker than that
Metallurgy has come along way since the 30's and 40's. Perhaps these are just as strong. Maybe stronger. Would be an interesting test.
I'm glad I never believed that you couldn't weld a forging...I've been welding forged steering parts all my life and never had one break. Hell I never thought you couldn't !
heres a Model A one,,(needed the forging) this is how it looked on the inside..when cleaning all the tube away to get to it,,had to cut down through the weld and even at 1/2 way through it would'nt even bend to come off,,have to say was impressed ,,I would not have thought it strong as it was,,
The old saying they dont build um like they use to was never truer. Old ford steel is superior to most new stuff, especially china stuff. Henry Ford didnt cheep out when is came to the steel they manufactured, he went overkill. Im sure metallurgy has progressed but the best isnt used on stuff like this (it would cost to much)
I used Industrial Metal Craft's stainless Steel wishbones when I got rid of the ugly four bars off my duece. They are very well made and of the highest quality.
