Cruising returns to Van Nuys Blvd

The car in the background (Nissan 240?) had some hi zoot motor, turbo, and nitrous, and was just "killin it" most the day. Then Frick killed "IT". Great race. Tom, I'm proud of you. As the Australians say "good on ya" to you and Robert

 

This is my buddy Steve. He went to the final round in the shootout, and lost due to a Nitrous malfunction. Look behind the start area a bit. It's DIRT.......We are at the beginning/end of nowhere.

 

The Nova won. The Camaro blubbered by me with the rest of an already failing Nitrous solenoid going away from it's prior pass in the "finals"

 

But, but... Where is the car with the innocent family that is always being put at risk by the dastardly street racers???

Better watch out for those jack-rabbits - they might be on the endangered species list. And flattening them out might be a Federal Offense.

 

LOL. As it was in "our" day......all cars and spectaters OUT OF HARMS WAY or there was NO RACE. I was gonna call you, but, you just love staying inside

 

This is the one that went home with all the "hot dogs" after the shootout. Many spectacular burnouts made this one a lot of fun to watch. Average a half dozen 1/4 track burnouts per run. Note end of pavement and beginning of dirt by the front trailer tire=EOTW

Thanks for the thought, but it doesn't look like it was within a 15 mile radius of where I live, so it's not likely I would have gone. You know me only too well. LOL

 

Kool pics Groucho. Sure was a good time yesterday. And the beauty of it there is no cross streets, no mini vans with familys in it just tons of racing and good times. Everyone was very mindful of safety to others. can't wait until the next time!

 

And everyone was super friendly. Even to this old guy. We CAN all get along.....at the street races (LOL)

 

WAY MORE than 15 miles. Prolly around 80. Well worth it though. Nice, warm weather, and lots of racing/side bets. Frick's (Tom's/Robert's) Nova hauls ass.

Hey is there any interest in trying to get the same thing going on Bellflower Blvd.? I'm not sure exactly what it took to get the Van Nuys cruise together (I'm sure a lot), but maybe the city would be responsive if they've seen a success story from Van Nuys. Just a thought! I'd be down to help any way I could.

I was just wondering if Rydell is still generous with their parking lot for this Weds night for cruise meeting. I heard a rumor that Rydell was closing that dealership over there and the lot was not going to be available. Please clarify...(Reid - this is for you, buddy...oh and let's have a HAIR FLIP from Robert!) Hopefully it won't be too cold where Robert's hair will FREEZE in mid-air...or maybe, Mid-Hair! LOL!
