awsum, brings back memories of hanging at the Malibu Grand Prix in Fountain valley, setting up the matches, waiting to the wee hours and then off to the Mcdonald Douglas industrial area in HB to finish things off...........hmmmmmmm
I remember seeing the Camaro in a shop on Saticoy yrs ago. I think he was trying to sell it. I believe my buddy Brad did the motor
Im Glad someone else sees it like me.....HE IS ANNOYING and Pompous ...etc...he needs a pink...slip...
That show would be much better without him, but somebody's paying him to do that! Ever notice he doesn't know much about cars, but he fakes it well?
heyGROUCHO...as street racing go's this is probably as save as it get's but wait ontell 1 of those 9 secont job's rolls over. your in the middle of nowhere. that's very stupid! in my view. make those heeps safe, and get your asses on the dragstrip. where they belong! call me POP...or the old FART!
I totally agree. We used to cruise Market st in Riverside or E street in San Berdoo in the early 80's looking for someone to race.If we found someone we would go to some safe deserted place, late at night or real early in the morning to race, away from traffic or the police.(Agua Mansa & North Main in Riverside,Milliken in Ontario)
South Bay Freeway (before it WAS a freeway) Out past Rancho San Diego golf course (before it got built up) Kearney Villa and 52 (before it opened) A real low ten second car, maybe only a couple a night. Once in a while a 9 second car. My dad got caught watching a race back in the late 40s near Midway and Rosecrans (industrial area back then). Doubt any of those were in the 14s.
any body remember bobs big boy in westchester on manchester, or pershing blvd? how about the 405 on ramp at manchester blvd, hanging out on la cienga then to run to the pedestrian over pass to watch the race, or the industrial areas around i think if i can remember the alameda corridor? those where some of the best times of my life as a kid espically with my dad!
Used to hang out by ontario airport in the industrial areas was pretty fun cops would drive by if they saw anyone race theyd pop em and that wasnt very often. Then the imports came along and ruined that....
That's right. Rudy did mention that you knew Brad. He slapped together that small block that I put in the 51. Mooneyes Show comin up!
wow thats a good one almost forgot about that spot! boy i miss those days. even terminal island was fun when they reopened it crazy but fun!
i can remember a race in ontario (cal) back in the 80's, my buddy had a really good running vega, and after about 2hr's of haggling to race a camaro, they ended up with his wife going to drive the vega, she was somewhat familar with the car, my buddy wanted her to wear his full faced helmet (which was way to big for her) when they took off the force rotated the helmet so as the chin part was up over her eye's, she held on, pulled the car into 2nd gear, than reached up and pulled the helmet down so she could see, it was a classic
hey GUY'S... you mentioned RICH with pinks all out. you know he doesn't know shit about drag racing, when he says. no time for cool downs. make HOT laps! what a MORON. not to mention the little EGO maniac, flaging starts. what a wast of the xmas tree. when it comes to this dictater( heavy on the dick) color me gone. call me POP!...or the OLD FART!
about time! the douche from pinks drives me nuts! wheres is his race car at? i never heard about him at the street races? who has? they need get that dude off the show great concept just needs some fine tuning! not to be an ass but it cracks me up to watch him crash his brothers bike!
How come on Pinks the losers don't actually have to hand over their cars? Isn't that what pinks really means? I have only watched it a couple of times and not that impressed. Maybe I am missing something about it. If dudes were really losing the races and then their cars, that might be a bit more impressive. I am not sure I would try that kind of big talk crap myself, just saying that is the name of the show, but that is not what seems to happen.
I remember Camelot and the Orange Mall. Used to take a trip on occasion to Denny's, Kmart parking lot in La Mirada, Shoemaker, Phoebe, Del Amo to race better competition....
Been there done that,it was killer, daytona beach had a couple killer spots early in the morning,,then like clockwork followed all the shitheads with the jap cars and crotchrockets drawing attention, doing bunouts in parking lots etc.,,,the last straw was when the cops blocked both ends of the road everyone was on and took all the cars,,lucky i was not there that night,,now florida has heavy fines if cought "street racing,,,,but i started taking it to the track and had a good time pending on what night and class you where in,,,not to mention if something does break or happen i can rest easy knowing theres a safty crew there in seconds,,,,my opinion
