do some searching in railroad archives as they were built for the track maint. crews. i think the forest service also had them. check out the old snow clearing machines used to keep tracks open in the winter.

Thinking of taking a panel delivery or suburban and cutting if off behind the second set of doors then using a donor cab for the back panel!! Using a full size frame with a 6ft box like a newer dodge mega cab.
The Suburbans and panels did not have back doors. You will have to use some front doors and fabricate a set of rear doors. Lots of work, but it can be done.
I'd forget about the crew cab and just build a 4 door Suburban. That would be cool. Lots of work, but cool.
A local guy stretched the cab and door. It is almost hard to notice. If I find a photo, I will post it.
The newbuilt "copy" of the Chevy pickup from about 1950-54 (Southern Motor Company) got a longer cabin, and a slight lower top, justified for better comfort.
