I called about a cool 46 Ford survivor 'rod that caught my eye and got to talking with the owner. Eventually the inevitable "what else you got for sale?". Once 'rods are mentioned "are you on the H.A.M.B?".

The car below is for sale but I'm posting this for H.A.M.B.er Green Voodoo (with permission) for two reasons.

    1) Because it's cool.

    2) Because Mike (Green Voodoo) is interested in finding out any history about this car and especially who did the initial body work back in the early to mid 60s. Have you seen this car before? Got any pics?...etc

The rear lights are mid 60s GTO and the paint was redone in the late 60s. Mike said a heap of other stuff but I didn't make good notes this time.

It comes with a full interior made by a well known guy here on the H.A.M.B. (sorry, his name escapes me) but for now this is all I know. Hopefully Mike will be along shortly to fill in the gaps.

Yes, I offered everything I owned as a trade but alas...I came up short.

Normally my searches catch all the cool stuff (I've got a large collection of cool ebay cars). Might have been a while ago. I missed that one. Yep, it had a Hemi.

Still, it does give ya hope. Maybe we won't find 'em but others will and they will become available. The good news is the destruction of old fords seems to have stopped. Now, everything is being revived and restored and used. I see this is good.

Yes, it is an unusual car. I know because I took it apart and parted it out when no one stepped up to buy it complete. It still had a Illinois 1972 plate on it(528 133) for research purposes and at one time was a drag car owned buy a rather famous individual who is still racing today. It did have a hemi, GM 4-speed and a completely chrome rear. The nose was a work of art but quite ugly in my opinion and the mechanical construction was very crude and actually dangerous, typical of some of the show cars of the era that were never intended to run. In fact, I still have the plate, driveshaft and a box of chrome pieces.

    As a driving car?

    Edit:
Posted that just before your post 4wd'. Interesting history. Crude mechanical construction is a shame. Got any pics of the car complete?

Why !! in the loving world would anyone part that car out. Sorry 4wd1936, but you sir should be arrested.

  13. Just a quick note on the whole crudley built thing. If it were a show car than looks would have been more important than anything else. You win shows by wowing the judges.

If it were a dragster built back in the day it also most likely would have been thrown together in a rather simple manner. That's just the way things were or are.

I would like to see a pic in its early '60s form just for grins. Those '66 Goat lights make early '60s build a hard sell.

That's not to **** in someones Post Toasties just stating the obvious.

People dont understand condition.....especially with 32-34 stuff.

and what that does to pricing....

its all revelant... and some dont get that.....

  16. Oh gee are we closer to the early '60s build?

My point is that you can't play the early '60s game with something that wasn't invented yet. I'm so sorry I was off on that they really look like the lights out of my old '66. But I'll go '67 if that makes you happy.

Let me make sometrhing clear here. I am not bad mouthing the body. I'm not a big '32 fan as everyone that knows me is aware. Never the less it is a nice looking body and no doubt it has some history.

I would actually be interested in knowing the actual history on the car myself. It would be nice to see it back on the road either in original form or as someone's personal build.

I'm going to guess that it is going to have to belong to someone with a very large bank roll as it has already been stated that it is worth more than everything that 32Ford5 owns.

Why the nasty comments? As was so nicely pointed out, this car was for sale for a long time on a number of sites before I bought it. When it became apparent that it would not work for my purpose I had it for sale for quite awhile on different sites also and anyone who wanted it could have bought it complete for what I paid for it but didn't, hence the dis***embly. There are enough individuals bad mouthing hot rodders without us doing it to ourselves. I did not at all appreciate the "should be arrested" comment, not necessary or deserved.

Didn't mean to come across "too nasty" but lets face it. You destroyed a piece of history. It is now gone forever. Yea, someone could have bought it and saved it themselves. Don't know what you were asking for it.
I get a little "tight" when I hear of someone parting out a historical race car. You did what you had to do but I think it is important for us HAMB'ers to try to save this type of stuff. Once its gone its gone.
its a soft spot for me. Sorry to offend you. "just keeping it real"

most of the hambers that i know of don't have the funds to have everything they want. so don't blast the guy for parting out a car after trying to sell it as a complete car. seams to me that if it was such a great part of history it would have been picked up earlier.

imao the builders destroyed the look of the body with what they did to the back of the car.

Yes, I've been told I'm a noob **** but have you tried searching for a 32 Ford 3 window show car on here? You get a billion results. I tried to search for it but after a few pages of results and nothing and a life to live I thought it might make an interesting story. I was not aware that it had been mentioned before and I've already regretted posting it up here again.

The current owner said something about the car being painted and modified later in 1967 which would explain the later model lights.

  25. since when is the hamb a presevation society
if that were true then all the stock vehicles that get modified here by its new owners would be wrong.
hot rods evolve thats how it is. 4x4 made his money, and built another car with that money. its not like it was the isky roadster or anything

I don't see anything that can't be undone or done to that body. Looks like a great starting point for someone who has the cash. Isn't it funny how some green paper can buy some old steel?
