  1. My favorite TB Mod was the yellow coupe with the black sunburst.

Mine too. When I was a kid I used to hang out at the shop when Tony Gazinski was builidng that car. It was originally driven by Red Klauss and had the Seagram 7 logo as the number.

    Okay Rich,
I'm deferring to the expert on all things Modified and Tiger Tom, Ken insists the big Baldwin fire was at Riverhead, I seem to remember it being Islip (we rarely went to Riverhead in those years anyway) Well Rich whats the answer. (I wish I could insert the jepordy music here )LOL

    Thanks

  9. I read a number of my posts and can't believe all the typos, sorry guys. Been a bit under the weather the past few days. Great job on the photos Pete, Mom saw them also and she was picking them out. Artie Tappen on top of Freddie's 18 for one.

Well Ken and Goodoledays, I guess you guys must be right this shot was on page 60 in this thread. The guardrail in the backround doesn't look like the striped metal fence that Islip used until they changed to concrete. My brain is alittle fuzzy on some details, I think I'll blame it on my CRS.

    Hey Guys ..

    Riverhead .. between the 1 & 2.

I'll explain how I remember .. the flames went as high or higher than the light poles .. from my vantage point I couldn't .. didn't see Baldwin get out of the car .. I thought he might be "toast" .. until I saw him walking on the track. ..... We had made a cut out .. an opening with a removeable section of that steel guard rail in the first turn for Marty Himes to get his vintage cars .. from the front midway display (when they were there) .. onto the track, without having them/him go all the way around back to the pits. I had a beer in my hand (don't know why) .. I unlocked the gate we had also made there in the debris fence and went up to the (removeable section of) guard rail .. SHOUTED at Baldwin "TOM .. YOU NEED THIS MORE THAN I DO!! .. and handed him my beer.

Yeah .. I know NO beer in the pits &/or on the track .. BUT !!!!!!!

BTW -- a master craftsman ... old Tony Gazinski straightened out every heat warped panel on that car .. straighter than new. That man was a true CRAFTSMAN!!!

    Ken ,

Thanks for the personal info. That's one of the reasons I really like this thread. If it wasn't for guys like you and Pete and Rich all our history would be forgotten. Thanks again for spending the time to do this and John56h for starting the thread.:D

Uhhh Bruce, I hope you don't mean me 'cause I don't contribute much. If I ever get off my butt and get all those negs and slides scanned, maybe then I'll be a contributing member of society!:D

  20. Rich get your butt in gear!!! Huge part of this thread is also Dr. John, tons of great photos!

  24. He's too busy fabricating some of the best cars around. he moved down to NC and the fabrication bug bit him.

When he lived up here and he couldn't install cruiser skirts on his primered 51 Ford.

There are just some things you never forget Richie. :D:p:cool:

You're a good man in my book boss.

Now, get that kid of yours to stop chasing Karts and to post more scrap book photos from "The house that Larry built" !

I found this in my racing stuff I know this photo has been posted before but this one was signed by Eddie. I must have bought it at Islip during the '69 or '70 season. I really get a kick out of the littlte plastic frame it had around it.:)

Rich I don't remember any frames around the shots I bought from you:D
