Here is a pic of the coupe after paint. I'll post more pics as I progress on. This coupe will have a late 60's vibe. I always gravitate towards the drag car look. I can't help it. Thanks to all you paint gurus who put up with my stupid questions.
Thanks. I am just an amateur, but I try and do as much as I can. It keeps the cost down. Well, unless you do it 2 or 3 times like I generally do.
36 ford pickup. It's just some old junk I had laying around. Dirk35 gave it to me 10 years ago and I decided to make it fit.
the Coupe looks great. I'm building a roadster and just picked up a '40 x-member.. it will end up similar to your chassis.
It was a lot of work. I would have used the tubular x member but it just wouldn't have looked right. I know one thing. Chassis builders earn their money.
I know a dude from Oklahoma that has a wheelie pullin model A sedan that is damn near that same color.... Nice work, -Abone.
I know. I'm pathetic. I always start out with something different in mind but all roads end up here. Guess what? It's getting blue plexi windows.
Root, Your "A" looks great. Looking forward to seeing it when you get it finished. Need to see you race your wheel standing "A" Sedan some time ! It justs ROCKS ! 41 Dave
Nope, not pathetic, it's just a neat color. I saw your sedan the first year of teh Drags the went home and painted my Henry J the same color.. See ya, -Abone.
Almost every car I have built gravitates toward drag racing. Maybe it's because most of my adult life was spent with various cars at many drag strips on the West Coast. I love the color and the frame is very nice. I hate tube crossmembers as the only people using tubing for crossmembers/K members back in the day were stricktly race car people, and it does not look period, yours is spot on!
It's gonna be a street driven version. It's got a 292 SBC with all 60's goodies. Motor will be black along with the front suspension and rear axle. Oh, and it's getting a black vinyl insert on the roof. The interior will be the old press pleated vinyl in black as well.
Heavy bore, short stroke, light car. Should make it down the road just fine. Gonna be down your way after the first of the year. Ya up for a meal and BS?
Looks good, the model A is the new deuce. Ck out my A project: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=409232
All that teeth-gnashing and lost sleep........ and it looks outstanding. You worry too much, dude. Don't forget the trailer hitch so you can haul the 'Fly
You learned your lessons well! Thanks for your questions. Lots of us have learned from them by following along. I hope I can be half as successful as your efforts. It really looks good!
