Here's my '61 Falcon I've been working on for about a year now when I find the extra time in the shop. 289 with a roller, tunnel ram and 2 450 holleys, toploader with the old Hurst shifter, 9" rear with 4.56's, Moser axles and spool, hope to have it on the road by spring. Got to my myspace page and click on the gasser page and check it out, the page is http://www.myspace.com/affordable_customs

This is my dad's drag/salt car from 1960-64. One day it will be rolling. Does that count?

Here's my project, all home built, still a long ways to go but will get there eventually!

  18. Here's my 51 Henry J, a true barn find I got a month ago, it came with a couple pallets of parts from various cars, most everything I need, now I just gotta fab 'em all together into a cohesive unit. I already have the 'crooked straight axle' of unknown origin installed with tack welds, trying to figure out the best steering/4 bar arrangement. I'm still trying to find out the history of the car, was raced in SoCal in the 60s and 70s, so if anyone recognizes it give me a shout. The entire project is being overseen by our Akita, Brody. He's a retired certified NHRA K9 tech inspector, and was part of the experimental 'cheater sniffer' program during the 2006 and 07 seasons.

I run it up in first and second to around 4500 almost every time and then make one or two banzai runs before putting it away. The garage smells great for a few hours afterwards too.

Paalease tell me you're not gonna repaint that car! TOO cool!

  25. I was going to paint it but the patina is growing on me, so I think I'll race it for a season or two as is. The paint is old school pearl laquer, well done but flakes off very easily. When I do paint it I think I'll stay true to the 60s style panels, maybe a recreation of what it has with a few 'artistic liberties'. Since the history is unknown, what do you think of 'Forgotten Rebel' for a name? It was an 80s punk band I liked, their one big hit "Surfin' on Heroin".

    nice pics bud.
if you had friends, they could come help you!!!!

  27. Here's the best I can do right now. The step-kids 62 Falcon that I kinda took over. Have a 9" laying behind the car, an econoline axle sitting in front of the hotrod and another pile with the motor & heads and a parts pile growing bigger on the bench. Putting a 283 Chevy for power!

You mean there isn't an old 390 in a local junkyard you can put in there??? :D

  29. Why would we want to do that! We want to be able to drive it not work on it all the time.

  30. WHAT?????

390 ford is an excellent motor with little to no problems. I have at least 4 of them that run in my vehicles and put tons of miles on them each year with no problems. They are just as reliable as a 283 and almost all parts stores stock parts for them. I was getting 20MPG with one in one of my galaxies.
