55 Chryslers that came with 8:20 - 15 tires had 6" wheels. I used 6" wheels with my 8:20 firestones.

Back in the day most cars had 6 inch rims and I put many Atlas Bucrons 820X15 on them and we never had any problems. Later on 7 inch rims came out and we started experimenting with reversing them and they also worked well and looked better-Always had progressive changes with the times and still happening in 2009.

I wouldn't go any larger than 6 inch.
What stud pattern are they for as I have a cheap pair of '53 F100 wheels 5 on 5 1/2.Not certain on width but would guess at 5 or 5 1/2 wide.
    Cheers,

The 820-15 was made in the 1950,s. It was on lincolns cadillacs etc. Was on a 6 inch wheel.

Run a 5 inch wheel with the 8.20s. They will give you the correct look. As a rule of thumb, wheel size should be as close to tread width as possible.
