wow, what a great thread. 1st time i ever took the time and look at everything. i think i need to buy a new memory stick with all the pics i just saved!
My 32 sedan was on the cover in the corner and was featured in Car kulture Deluxe issue #3 back in 2001 before I owned it . It was on the cover of Car Craft August 1963 and had a 2 page spread in April 1963 issue of popular hot rodding.
The first scan is random family photos of the car and John otis with his grandma etc. and then the two page article from The April 1963 Popular Hot Rodding ! and 3 Car Craft 8 x 10 outtake photos that were never used. The nice photographer mailed them to John Otis after it was in Car Craft ! the one with spun alluminum moon style discs and no fenders is from 1959. John said the pretty lady went to his high school. this is how i have the car now - no fenders and nos moon style discs on 16" wheels. i do run baby moons sometimes as well. The two color pictures i found on the HAMB. I freaked out when i saw one and then later the second one, Thanks to the HAMB. the car won over 100 trophies and about 24 made it to me with the car. i have 12 from about 57-62 and another 12 from the east coast autorama circuit that hit several city's in 66-67 - I think it was called the governors cup.?
I guess a couple more pictures won't hurt . the sedan getting background props at the Concorde Autorama 1966, John Otis also had DEUCE as his Massachusetts license plate for like 30 years ! from the time that personalized plates came out until the early 90's. the cool Flywheels autoclub Christmas card has names of some of the members from the time period and a drawing of the sedan on it. most cars in the club were coupes adn roadsters and dragsters, John's was the only sedan. The older trophies are from various shows. one is from the Flywheels show that they put on in 1959,that show was featured in Rodding & restyling magazine in 1959 . as well as a couple of trophies from the Drag-Links car club shows , Drag -ons car club show, Hi - Winders, and not the biggest but very kool Los coches car club show in 1961 2nd place trophy for closed rod. The 2 color pictures after the trophy are the oldest color ones that i have . they are at a show in the NE horticultural Hall in 1959. The group picture is the Flywheels club out of Braintree MA , in 1959. I plan on doing a thread on the Fly Wheels car club one of these days. I have plenty of pictures to post !
WOW, J. D., you just brought back a lot of memories. I moved to Quincy in 1956 [it's the town next to Braintree] and used to see John's car on the street frequently. The thing I remember most about his car [other than the color] was that gas cap door! That was cool in 1956.Do you have any photos from the Flywheels car shows during the '50s? I had a car entered in their show in 1958 [a '40 Ford Deluxe coupe] but of course, I never took any pictures of it.
Here is an absolutely horrible picture of Animal's car from "Way back when" My father used to tell me stories about this car when I was kid. They shared a garage in Qunicy, back in the day. Thanks for the pic, it kinda completes the story for me. I called him and asked the Animal`s name, he said Billy Sexton.
check this one out! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=370586&highlight=little+monster
I thought since I started this thread that maybe I should post a pic of my project. Threw it together this weekend after changing engines and not touching it for a while. Some more tweeking but close.
a friend of mine built these two. he still has the 33 coupe, but he sold the model A coupe to someone in australia over the summer.
