Fast Eddie Schartman's was one of my all-time favorite 65 Cyclones!! That purple one has some DARK windows,probably why NHRA brought out the rule against them. ROY.

 

I'm pretty sure this is the former Hayden Proffit car.

 

troublemaker, that is the former proffit car- that's the car that replaced the '55 thunderbird that mccoy raced in a/mp. they also had a '64 comet a/fx'er. rich reily used to drive it. they didn't tour much though.later matt.

Ford Expo 04 Dont know much about this one but I believe its one of the originals.Havent seen it since then.Anybody know?

 

I can't believe I forgot to post this....my dads 64 Cyclone. Running a 260 which was ok per the NHRA rulebook even though Cyclones never came with a 260. Dad sold the car and it crashed into a bus after it came loose from the tow vehicle. The guy that owned it bought another Cyclone drag car and switched some of the parts over. That is the car I have now.

SOME VINTAGE SOTS OF THE MERC WAGONS THAT HAULED THOSE COMETS TO THE TRACK.FIRST SHOT IS THE NHRA SAFTEY TEAM WAGON,MERCURY GAVE A DOZEN OR SO OUT TO THE NHRA.tHE SECOND IS THE BILL SHREWSBERRY COMET TEAM RE JETTING THE CARBS ON THE TAILGATE.

These are from a Nashville show a few years back.

 

One of the original 427,64 Comets was at this years Fairlane show in Dearborn along with a B/FX 65 Comet.The 65 was unrestored,looked damn good. ROY.

 

Loving all these Comets...my Dad owned a few back then just to drag race. My earliest old car memory was in our (now r.i.p) '65 Comet. Great pix!

I'm not sure looked for the owner all weekend and never saw him.It never went down the track and was gone before the car show.It was very nice and super clean.Wish I had taken a few more pics
