The new awning for my house, a deck lid from a 1947 Oldsmobile is in the paint shop right now BUT I still can't decide on color. At first I thought the color of Big Olds but now I'm second guessing what would look best. My options are wide open as Tinbender said he'd paint it (have his students I should say) paint it any color I want. Here's a photo of my house. What do yu guys think?

Oh yeah, gonna be looking for a HAMB relay from Spokane Washington to Detroit when this baby is done!:D

and HUGE thanks to Tinbender and his students for doing such a cool project for me.

ANYTHING but peach! I would go with something that contrasts the trim color, what is across the color wheel from peach?

What color is your front door? Or should I say what color will it be? I don't think I've EVER gone in that way :D

    :D That's Santa checking to make sure I'm a good girl! :D

Boy, you don't miss a trick did you?? That's my neighbor Scotty (his red truck) blowing the leaves off my roof and outta my gutters. I had my camera ready incase he fell or something else happened that I could catch on tape....you know, win $10,000 at someone else's expense.:D Thought I would snap a few regualr shots off of the house while I was standing there. Will probably try to take a better one of the front door area tonight if it's not too dark before I get home.

Why don't you put it over the side door where everyone goes in? Is it getting replaced in the big remodel?

I would paint them both the same.

Don't put the deck lid up, I love your 50s house front :D

If you want it to complement the house, paint it the color of the roof.

  18. Can I send my wife to you for some intensive training?:D

  19. Tan, to match your trim, with black street numbers and pinstripes in black and brown(to match the bricks)

    .....oooh, snap! I think I'm a decorator! :p

  21. I think the one over the front door that everyone can see from the street should match the house trim color. But I like the pinstripe house number idea.

I will get to see the house in person someday,

Paint it the same color as the house trim. Find or make a Michigan license plate that has the house numbers and mount that to the lid.

I'd like to see the deck lid and hood done in Big Olds colors (should be a conversation starter - "What happened here, Denise?"), but I love this number idea! ^
And that's why I'm not a decorator (you can imagine what my dump looks like)...

You got it bud! Send her this way the last weekend in Feb which is the Detroit Autorama. There's usually a house full of crazy car gals.

The Michigan license plate with the house numbers is already on the project list, along with a new paint job on the mailbox BUT I think I'm going to mount it in the current house number location, under the porch light .....my stalkers have to be able to find me.:rolleyes::p:D

Why are the colors for the voting graph not the same as the words? Like brown shows purple? Purple shows brown? Green is other? Are you trying to unfuse me? I already have a screw loose. But I really like the license plate idea. I think I'll have to go on a search for 5203...

Door is always open, you are welcome anytime.

Start with a Michigan license plate of the vintage of when your home was made. From there you will need to cut out numbers from other license plates and weld? them together, then paint to contrast the house.....at least that's what I have planned.

    Right back at ya sweetheart.

Did you vote on the poll?:D
