Bad Ass Car and an Amazing score! If someone gave me $80K for a car that I paid $1000.00 for.. I'd take alot of good pics of it for my scrap book and say goodbye.Of course If I were well off, didnt need the money, Sure I would just keep it...I think there's alot of jealousy pertaining to this story. And that's sad.

Cars are for fun. Anything can be repaired. If I break it having fun oh well. Here are a some other cars I like to have fun with. My cars get used and taken care of. I have no fear of hurting them. They serve me. I don't serve them. Just my rules. Live by your own rules.

I just wonder 1 thing. Are the bids and reserve for real? More than once I've known guys to do a stunt like that to build attention....like a publicity stunt. Then they sell it for real later when the hype is at it's peak. You have to admit, they is alot of attention being drawn by this auction and all he's paid is a listing fee on EBay.

What he said. It's a great ad, then when it goes to Barrett Jackson they all go nuts. If it's a cow and got an udder, milk it. If it's a car and it's for sale, sell it. Don't mix the two up. ;-)

Why didn't I think of that Bill - The ultimate in yard art!! SOLD!!! :)

  11. sure has stirred the pot with the "finding and selling" issue. the grey area the car falls in is brilliant on a marketing stand point, nobody can prove or disprove the facts presented. "its all about the money" half the people are pissed and half are supportive! like i said brilliant.

  12. I dig it, especially since he used my photo from Famoso in his listing lol. Nice one to the owner aka a buddy of mine. Gonna be out on the Lake for the end of the season? I might venture out there. Plus I did not realize a few things. I have a catalog from 08' beckoning for your signature Sir. Thanks again for all the inspiration.-Weeks

  13. From El Mirage 11-14-2009. I got to fullfill a dream in driving this car. I really enjoyed put-putting around in the 1000$ roadster and I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. It was beyond awesome to be driving along at a good clip and seeing the dust roost flying up from the back wheels of the car as I increased speed to get to third gear. I figure I got up to about 50 or so and at times I felt as though there were racers of the past out there laughing as much as me and my nephew were. It was a surreal drive. I cannot thank the owner enough. I am not going to say any names but he is a gentelman and a scholar. A real hot rodder/landspeed racer to the core folks. Enjoy the shots.-Weeks

Gently going into 3rd gear........you were drifting sideways across the lake bed full lock! lol........I could hear you guys laughing the whole time. I am glad you got to get out there and have fun with it. That is what it is for. I think the car had as much fun as you did. The windshield as best as i can tell from looking at many photos, is from a 37 cad lasalle cabriolet. When we go out for testing the liner with the 750 engine next year, I will let you know so you can hang out and tell lies with us! Get that A on the road so I can race you!

These are just a few of the shots I got before my battery died from the cold. Zap was out taking photos on the lake bed and our fingers were frozen. When we drove back, we ducked behind the windshield and all was well.

Nah, I just hate it when people on here talk about wanting to "learn all they can" from the old rodders, then turn around and give an old timer a hard fucking in the ass on a car deal!!!!!!! Then everyone else lines up to tell the guy how cool it is that he got the car so cheap.

I'm all for making money on a deal, but I'm tired of hearing about all the moralless fucks on here bragging about the screwing their giving these old people on these cars. As I said before, how would they feel if it was there parents or grandparents getting hosed??
No wonder why so many of the old guys hoard stuff and won't sell it to some young guy that comes around, telling them that car or part is just what they've been looking for all their life...the whole time calculating how much they can "flip" it for. Alot of them old timers are smarter then people think!
    Flame on.....

  28. I'd rather be called a Socialist than be someone that takes advantage of someone else for my own gain.

It's called the Golden Rule. "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You"

If I have followed the story right, the present owner bought the roadster from the person that bought it from the original owner, so there is a little more to the story. I still like to think that making big money on a old car is less important than owning and keeping an old car and enjoying it. But then I just love these old cars.
