Lets say "interesting" solutions to some common problems are my favorite part of the hot rodding world. My buddy came up with a great carb fix for his va*** secondary the other day if anybody is interested ill get pics. The secondays wera all out of wack so he removed the holley parts plugged the holes then used a heater control va*** plunger on a homemade bracket plumb in a control valve and viola adjustable secondary its definately a hack job but it really works great. Reply if you think its cool or have more "creative" fixes.

Yeah, sorry to confuse you. I Will post pics as soon as I can get them up. Guess I jumped the gun like I said hack jobs (at least the ones that work) are my favorite. But then again sometimes the failures are fun too.

Your ****ysis, "definately a hack job but it really works great", to me, is a contradiction. A hack job would be something that took work, but didn't........"work".

Sorry again guys I will post pics as soon as I can it will probably be tuesday though I am not in town. But yes this is for real and it works suprisingly well the tuneability is awesome. For a little more detail to try and wrap your head around the concept here is my best quick description. The vac*** canister is off a typical 80s-90s F series pickup the one under the hood at the firewall on p***senger side to open nthe heater door it is strong. The carb was a 600 with the typical holly style vac*** secondary. the original carb vac*** housing was removed completely from the carb leaving the va***feed exposed we plugged that. The ford part was installed with a simple homemade bracket . The ford part had the correct size hole to mount where the original holley plunger went so we ran vac*** to the ford actuator with a valve to adjust.

I know this sounds ridiculous I think it IS ridiculous! That was the point of the post, its fun when strangely inspired mods that cost nothing actually work.

Again sorry i will post pics as long as its still of interest. It does look clean unusual perhaps but the pictures will show its not as crazy as it sounds. By the way this car is also running the stock distributor and ignition module without a computer we didnt think that was possible when we started but it was all we had so we forced it to work.

That is sure a hard way to save $9......................I can see it if you don't get to town often, but then again, you can drive without secondaries until you get to town.

I was also hoping to inspire you to tell of weird things done that work both functionally and in the looks department the list has to be endless for most of us.

yeah we had already went through all th holley springs we could get to control the secondarys for this car and got it ok but never really great and tried this out of cheapness to not put more parts on and desperation. It DOES work. It COST nothing. It is DIFFERENT. the tunability of the valve is cool this weekend we will be running it to the dash instead of underhood so adjustments can be made well driving. I think its cool.

Is anybody else running an ignition system similar? Any ideas on how to get some adjustable advance out of this setup?

Isn't there actually a vacuum hose under the holley vac secondary canister? Seems to me you could put a valve inline with the holley stuff without having to go to extreme measures. Maybe I'm remembering holleys wrong.....

But it sounds like the car runs great so congratulations! Good luck with the car

Cool. Excellent. etc, etc.; I can visualize that. ......used stuff that was just laying around, spent no $, is commendable. Too bad there's people that can't fathom the concept of your friend having the skill to do this withoug posting their smug diss because they don't appreciate another's ability to work with what he has. Innovation. Get 'er done. There's more than one way to skin a cat. etc, etc.. ...............keep on keepin' on.
