"drip rails will break up the roof" I think the opposite, on this and on cars like '40 coupes.
With no rail, the severe 90 degree line at back of door separates the roof into 2 chunks with no connection (this is radically worse on a '40 Ford). The rail sweeping across that area allows your eye to flow all the away across without a lurch in the middle.
On some Model A's, the drip rail is a separate piece that attaches as a holddown at edge of the cloth insert...get that sort in repro, shorten to suit, and attach.

 

with all those ideas I have a path to go down: taller tire in rear,add drip rails, 3" chop,cowl lights already off,lower buckets, chrome reverse wheels, turqoise or baby blue paint, white firewall, already have black and white interior.Then some pinstriping by the one arm bandit.this will be a fun winter in my garage, will show pictures as I go. the 38 was my last project thanks john
