Yeah, I know its a streetrod, but I built the majority of it and my other half likes it as much or more than I do so it's a win win thing. I am also building a 51 HenryJ with a blown hemi.

I recently purchased a 1931 Ford Model A pickup. First hot rod build. I plan to chop it 4", channel it 3" or 4" (even with bottom of frame) and go fenderless. Looking for that vintage 50's hot rod style.

Still haven't decided on motor yet, but definitely V-8 with lake style pipes. Most likely SBC or Ford Y block. Loud, but not too bad and able to light up the rear tires, which will most likely be on 16" artillery wheels with bias ply whitewalls. Would like it to be manual trans. if plenty of room for 3 pedals. I know they'll fit, just how tight will it be. If not, most likely Turbo 350 or Ford C-4.

I plan on boxing the stock frame, little bit of kick up in rear and going with 4" drop stock axle and either split 'bones or hairpins. 37-48 Spindles with F-100 backing plates and drums. I will leave the rear with the transverse spring and a Ford 9". That about covers it. Any suggestions are always appreciated. This site has been a great inspiration so far and there are many talented people on here.

  20. Just finished the '40 in Sept '09. The Model A is the next project. Already have TCI rolling chassis for it, a '65 327 motor and a 700R4 trans. Plan to keep the fenders on it and not chop the top. Probably paint it flat black with white roll & pleat interior. Have a '60 chevy steering wheel for it , going to paint it red metal flake and pearl white. Finishing honey-do's now, will start on it next month and plan to be finished this time next year. My daily drive is a '70 chevy short wide pickup, but I don't have any decent pics of it. Trying to sell the '40 to fund the Model A. Anyone interested it is in the For Sale section. This is a great forum, wish I had know about it earlier.

How could anyone not like it!!! That to me is as important to automotive history just as is the early iron, it all ties together. But then I'm a sucker for Mopars.

OK... a quick scan of this thread shows 32 post '63 cars, 15 foreign jobs, and 1 mini truck. I lost count of the fenderless trucks, and I ain't goin' anywhere near the rat rod/street rod thing.
I'm NOT bitchin' about this. Fact is I'v never ever seen a car, any car, that I couldn't find at least something interesting to look at. (There are a lot of very nice rides in this thread) I'm simply making the point before I post pix of my OT truck.
My only defense is that I started this before there was much of an internet, long before there was a HAMB, and while still under the influence of sport cars. I have continued to build through just about every bummer you can imagine, and I will drive it... someday.
