I've searched the archives about alternate options for a gas tank in my '32 chassis - '31 coupe, with a '41 x-member. I want to keep the rumble area as big as possible for the kids. Any reason that I couldn't use the area between the outer frame rail and the center x-member, with the tank equal to the depth of the frame?

I'm sure that I could figure out a way to reroute the exhaust and plumbing to get it out of that area.

Attached is a pic of the setup. I don't have one of mine here, so I stole one from Bass that is the same.

    Thanks
    Mike

If you made the gas tank as a full width, full heighth divider between the passenger compartment and the rumble seat, it wouldnt have to be more than 3 or 4 inches thick and could still hold a lot of gas.
It would also be the most protected place in the event of a wreck.
