2. update..........just redid the dash using mostly period parts from the sun super tach 2,added S/w volt meter, dumped the pull out cassette and then I made a new center piece of the dash outa aluminum and painted it to match the stock one only I moved the 3 gages up into it so I could see them moved a cassette am/fm over 3 inches from where stock radio was and moved the stock lighter from next to the speedo to the far right, and yes its a new K-Mart 8-track under the dash along with the firebottle next to the shifter.Last shot is before.......the idea was for it to keep the vibe the car should have

WOW!! ………. Brings back memories
My first car was a 56 Chevy, I bought it in 1976.
Dae sha vu all over again, down to the Steering Wheel, Tach, Floor Shifter and Bachman-Turner-Overdrive in the High-Fidelity, under the dash, 8-Track.

Mine didn’t have a straight axle but, it did sit up high. Airshocks to keep the H70-15’s on all fours from rubbing. A buddy of mine in High School (there were three of us that owned a ‘56’... kind-of-a-club) had the same S/S Cragar Wheels on his.

Was this car originally an automatic? By the view of the steering column from under the hood, looks like it was. One of my first mods was converting mine to a Muncie 4-Speed.

What a Time Warp,

PS: The B-17 was Cool too!:D

Very cool! You have made me wish I would have put a straight axle under my 56!! I know you said in a earlier post that when you got it the front end needed some work because it was all over the place. Did you get that fixed and how's it drive now?

22. Yeah I pulled the complete front end out and rebilt it all! Now it drives great just put over 300 miles on it going to GoodGuys and the car didnt miss a beat.this is when I drilled the 55/59 chevy truck axle since I had it out
