JRBlack, so what you're saying is that Mother Nature is JUST as mean to old cars in Western NY as she is to cars here in Ohio? YUP!!!

Anyway, the PIX are still keen. Looks as though you and ThunderbirdESQ had god weather for the stoll, buddy! THANKS for the PIX!

and another...picture is so big had to scan both sides and can't figure how to flip or at least my edit button won't let me.

In the center of the picture there is a car with some writing by paint brush that reads" Dont ------- on my last ----" I've tried to figure it out w a magnifying glass ...?

there is also some blurr due to a fire in a barrel...late fall. Then there is railroad tracks, some old bikes .... no idea on the town in background.

    Might be WWII Scrap Drive.

    here's one c.1942
Detroit junk on the way to be processed at a nearby foundry.
The sign reads "Now my duty is to lick the Japs"

Its a defunct big American brand. From the photo you can tell the year, model and make. The model was a factory custom.

6LaSabre3 & 59Edsel: Yeah! HAS to be one of THE best old-time junkyard shots that has been on this thread. Shorpy (I checked back) said the pic was shot 1935, SO good bet that most of these cars might have gone to steel mills for the WWII scrap drives. I'M WONDERING IF SHORPY MAKES PRINTS OF PIX LIKE THIS FOR SALE??? This is one I'd frame and look at every time I came or went!

Hey, HOW MANY OF THOSE COUPES, ROADSTERS, TOURERS CAN YOU
GUYS I.D.??? A few were identified (generally) earlier, but if someone
has Correl Draw and could POINT OUT specific makes/years, that
    would be SUPER!

Mako4R: Yeah, I think CarlS may have it right. Seeing the torch work and other signs, this may have been for WAR scrap, or at least scrap. Doesn't look like they were "recycling" parts for reuse but were after the STEEL. Good PIX!!! Thanks for posting! -- Jimi

CarlS: Wow, man! Your PIC just REEKS of nostalgia. "Beating the Japs." Well, it WAS an all-out effort, and in '42 the OUTCOME was by NO means a foregone conclusion, either!!!

THANKS, Cranky!!! I guess I underestimated HOW MANY people feel the same feelings of poignant nostalgia -- even regret -- that I always have felt about seeing the old horses of Detroit, SouthBend, Kenosha, Buffalo, Richmond, Cleveland, etc., permanently "out to pasture" ! Glad so many HAMBers have been enjoying having so many great boneyard shots all in ONE place, instead of having to haunt the 'net for hours on end!!! THANKS TONS TO EVERYBODY WHO'S BEEN CONTRIBUTING. We have many or most of the STATES & provinces represented, too!-- Jimi

Here's another link to ADD, to a good virtual tour -- this one is of a HUGE bone yard in southern West Virginia where HAMBer "Pontiac" lives.

Yup, Frankie, you said it. Bet it was hard for YOU wathing the 47/48 Dodge getting mashed, too! The '56 Dodge was a crime. Lots of good parts just being permanently destroyed.

We, of course, can't save them all. But, it's probably GOOD that we see what's going on, year in and year out SOMEwhere. Sure puts the onus on US to go get what we have space and money to save, WHILE they still exist. Sad to watch, for sure.

Lunatic: Last I heard from TruckedUp, he was still in a corner in a fetal position. I hope he pulled out of the shock of the crusher pix!!! (But, yeah! It sure stinks to see 50-, 60-year-old cars mashed!!!) -- Jimi

Kool/weird??? We discussed those "mixed" emotions on my demolition derby thread a little while back. You'd probably like the visuals. Closed thread, but I imagine you can still access it for reading/viewing.

(Was a FUN thread, until the guys started talking about modern-day derby almost exclusively and post-'65 cars.)

This was at the entrance of a farm that was loaded with about 200 or so cars. The owner wouldn't allow any pictures to be taken inside the farm for fear of theft. He had apparently been victimized at a cost of one '32 roadster pickup. Hearsay, until I saw the inventory log of the farm and the police report.

BTW, what is this? Is it a '36 Plymouth?

Hi, Vintage original. Cool pic. I believe it's a '37 Plym, 'cause of the narrower grille, and the '36 roofline, I THINK, was a tad more squared at the L-R corners.

VintageOriginal, as somebody who's had two cars stolen and one vandalized & one ransacked, I side with the old farmer. I don't know what gives people the idea -- or sheer gall -- to think it's just OK to go ANYWHERE and pick up a car WITHOUT CHECKING WITH ANYBODY. Sometimes, it IS actually okay, but checking with neighbors and especially the county sheriff's office is a good way to be sure, BEFORE hooking up the trailer.

Did the old gentleman allow any more photos after, or was the one all you were permitted to get? It's a shame the guy is forced to be so secretive when there must be cars and parts honest rodders could use. All it takes is one bad apple to sour the whole barrel for everybody. End of rant.

Mother Nature hasn't been kind to the old Pontiac, has it? And either
the yard owner, or reckless customers, have been NONE to careful.
