    Dude,

That's one helluva project, and you're doing an AWESOME job. Your attention to detail is outstanding. I wish I was as patient as you are with every little part. It will pay off in the end. (yeah, you know it, that's why you're doing it).

    Keep up the good work.

This build keeps getting better each time I check on it! The color choice looks right on!

  7. Use'ta use a colour called "candy burnt orange" by Pactra on my model cars back in the day... Needless to say, I am reminded of the '60s when I see your colour choice! Many of todays colours are just a new take on an old hue. Car's gonna be awsome! I can't wait for the next set of pics!

Might want to get to make a red-hot poker while you're waiting. There might find a use for it the first time someone asks you "if that's a kit car" or asks "who did the welding" for you, implying the owner wasn't capable of such quality. They could say "I had one just like that when I was a kid--only better". Hence the need for that red-hot poker.

  9. Wow man, the paint (and everything else) looks great. You're doing a great job, keep it up.

hey turkey. i was bored and after a few hours in the garage today moving my model A onto a loft i built for it i decided to read your thread again from the beginning to the end.

YOU SIR ARE ONE HELL OF A CRAFTSMAN. congrats on getting to where you are and I sure hope your daughter still gets excited to go see the Hot Rod.

I love the color, i love the fact that you didn't go with black or red and I love the detail you have put into this car. Its not even a glass or steel issue anymore. Its a piece of art to be stared at!!

Your project came to mind yesterday when after several attempts at making a sheet metal top insert to cover with Stayfast on my 32 3 window (owned for 30 years) I broke down and called Walden Speed Shop for one of their spot on inserts. In the conversation I asked the lady if they were selling any of the Brookville chopped 3 windows they assemble she said they were on their 5th. I finally got around to asking and she said they were now costing 45K for the basic body. (GASP!) I though about you and how you are so on the right track with a fun build that the average person can afford. Keep it up.

Thank you guys, it means alot to me. I've got less than two months to try to pull this off before it goes to upholstery. My work has slacked off and I'm finding myself putting in 12 hour days in the shop. There are so many little thing that need to be tweaked and painted then repainted. The body has been primed and blocked three time, one more to go and it should pass my scrutiny. So much to do, I'm starting to feel the stress now but I knew it would get hairy at this point. My family is great and they are behind me all the way. Only 93 days til billetproof.

Building a car is an emotional roller coaster, you've reached the point where you feel like it's never going to be done.

...but there is a good side, this usually happens when you're pretty close to being done. The car looks amazing, I can't wait to see the final product.

When I build the 302 I didn't know what color the body would be yet so I painted it red. I just couldn't keep it red so I went with body color.
