Been collecting parts to build a model A my father in law came through for me in a big way today! 28 Model A body and a heavy model A truck frame. Thanks to hiboy32 and my buddy Mike for helping me go get it today. Christmas came early this year. It's amazing how much was there after sitting in the same spot since 1950.
WOW that is an awesome pic of the tree growing through the car. Very nice find. What are your plans for it???
My plans are to build a early fifties style hot rod flathead v-8 3 speed with od fenderless with wide whites and 40 ford caps
All those acres to grow in and the trees had to pick the engine compartment and the front seat - what is it with Mother Nature? Still, that's better than under the frame and finding the whole car twenty feet up.
Now don't go putting ideas in my head! I have a 1928 model a frame allready, but I heard you can run these truck frames and it does have the correct cross members for the sedan you just have to cut the excess off the rear. The metal on these truck frames is a much thicker guage, and the rails are a little taller so might use and make a hi-boy sedan?
jdk<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_4588486", true); </SCRIPT> - Funny how an old piece of tin can get your motor running. How did you get the car away from the tree, cut the car or the tree? That's one big tree! Congratulations on the new car, thanks father in law! CRUISER
Unfortunately the tree was huge and the only acees to the car was on foot so we had to cut the upper supports and the sub rails. However I do body repair for a living and know for a fact that I can repair the cuts so you'll never be able to even notice.
that is a damn good find! cant wait to see this one come together. Dont think that two engines is the best idea.
It did suck to have cut that car up to be able to get it out of there, it will be simple to put back together again..
Good save. Looks like some pretty decent tin. I am using an AA truck frame for my build and I think it is going to come out good. Also. The front axle in that is the same as an A car. Spindles and drums are bigger though. Did you leave the car frame with the tree?
Jason, here is a link to Nosurf build up ( rebuild ) with the AA frame... good to see REM/Mo using the truck frame. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311855&highlight=nosurf+coupe
The front axle is pretty bent up from use as hay wagon I'm planning on running 40-48 front axle I have laying around.
