Don't know what happened there; oh, well! Never say die.
A bullet-riddled shot from Utah Dodge's October thread, "Carnage - check out this car graveyard!!"

It is a Packard. It has become nearly unrecognizable dust.

It's a rare 1953 Caribbean. Yet, another example of how New York style winters can disfigure an automobile. The Caribbeans came with a leaded hoodscoop, round rear wheel chrome trimmed cutout, 327 straight eight equipped with a four barrel, Kelsey-Hayes wires, and a leather covered interior. Trust me, the hood on one of these cars is leaded and heavy. Transmission could be a ultramatic or a three speed OD manual.

The engine in the foreground is an older Packard.

This is what it should look like below.

Here are some of my favorite cars here in Ok. All owned by friends of mine, Guys i am keeping close.[IMG][IMG] The Deuce 3 window makes me sick. Some times i lay awake at night, and think about that car just sitting out there rotting. I offered the guy big money for it but he wont sell it. Not right now anyways. There are ALOT more pics on my profile in the vintage tin album.

VintageRide, thanks, that makes me feel better, guessing right. From the 50-percent of the car that I could see in the pic, it surely didn't look like a Buick, Cad or anything else that would have ocme from the factory with wires.

To Packard's credit, they worked VERY hard in styling & body in their final years, trying to recaputure at at least SOME of the old flair -- & public confidence! So, yeah, lots of customs for shows and to feel out the market -- AND lots of lead filler!

I could chat all day about Packard!

TudorToby, HI, man! Good to see you here on the HAMB.

Yeah, WHO couldn't love a 3W coupe??? I ask ya! Hang in there, buddy; maybe some day soom that body will be yours to start a project car!

BTW, I assume the two LEFT-most cars (top & bottom row are the SAME three-window?)

The farmer had a bunch of cars that went missing. The '32 RPU was obviously the most valuable. I took that picture on my way in. Then when I met him, he asked that i leave my camera behind. This farm was littered with cars and parts. You would literally trip over old flatheads hidden in the long grass. There were old '30's stock cars, busses and tow trucks, hearses. I was lucky to walk through it. All because I asked about a flathead core for my car. I should have snuck my camera. But I respect the privacy.

TigerShark, hey, buddy! Nope, and I'm not a tech guy. Why not give CarlS a PM and see if he has any advice?

Sure looks as though they are from a well-kept archive. So, if Carl can help you find THEM, maybe they can get you a "pixilated" version you can blow up and frame on the wall (just assuming that's what you're seeking here, man).

We've had some DAMN great oldies on this thread (Oregon Historical Society; Shorpy's Easton, PA, 1935 junkyard; USC Library Archive; etc., etc.). I get the impression that many of those folks maintain the original negs, it seems, and I think some of them would -- for a reasonable cost -- send you a great print. IF I could win a small lottery, I'd be first in line emailing these folks; it's auto history! AND I dig it!

Jimi: First, I have to say, I RESPECT you as an honorable man. Yeah, I myself would love to see PIX of the stuff YOU saw! But as you say, it is GOOD to respect someone's wishes -- and fears. Now, I am even MORE sorry for the guy, losing not only an RPU but MORE classics!!! Shit. I do hate thieves.

KawBoy, I reckon you mean that in a SMILING sort of way. I used to have a Mail Pouch enamel sign. Nice, but it got away.

I found a place up in north central Kansas about 11 years ago, I'm planning on taking a trip up there soon with camera, cash and trailer in tow! I can't wait!

Von Mopar, nice photo composition! Is the rich color
due to the time of day? Or, are these custom prints?
I REALLY like the angle on the '59 DeSoto tail end!!!

WheelBarrow, I FEEL yur pain! I look at these pix, and I know most of these cars were simply UNWANTED back when this pic was taken ('40s?). By 'rodder's standards of TODAY, most of the sheetmetal would have still been in good shape, too, when they finally got broken down for scrap.

If I am not mistaken this is still the location of Langley Recycling. They crush everything that comes through the doors these days;( I think the white building on the right side is still the main office!

    Touchingly poignant shot from "ClassicCarsRotting.com"
A wonderful, wonderful collection -- AND resource! -- of
great photos for car lovers, rodders, restorers. Thanks,
Frankie, for bringing this website to our attention! (NOW,
what did someone JUST say about parking a car under a pine?
YIKE! Look at those acidic, sappy needles! A whole BLANKET of
    'em!)

Whoo-boy, you can say THAT again! Twice, I have run afoul of "guard" dogs, and both times it took 20 minutes for my adrenalin level to ocme back down! (And, both times, it was MY fault for paying too much attention to the cars and NOT watching out for the resident hounds!!! Anybody ELSE got good "junkyard dog" stories???
