I think you're confused as to what a "survivor" is.

Other than the motor you did a nice job.

Love the car! Not my first choice for a powerplant, but I bet it hauls ass! Good on ya for not changing the paint, too. Looks perfect just like that.

Thanks everybody! Yeah the fenderwell headers are some old small block 55-57 fenderwells that were custom made to work. Basically cut off the flanges, had to bend and add some tubes to it and then weld LS flanges on them. I installed a huge cam in it with double valve springs, titanium retainers, hardened pushrods. Along with the 3 inch exhaust and Flowmaster Super 44's it sounds mean! It runs really good.
3 years ago I built a really cool 71 Nova and put a LS1 in it also but carb'd it Big mistake, it was a huge gas hog. That is why I kept the fuel inj on this one.

This car sounds so bad ass . No one would know it is a LS motor , sounds like a high reving 327. We did a photo shoot with this car at Car Craft Nationals. Super Kool ride well done.

There is so many people that ask me what color I am going to go with or when am I going to paint it. I say that I am never going to paint it and they just look at me like I am crazy. Or I here all the time " Well he has a good start on it." Lol! Screw that, this bitch is done!
There was 3 of us at Car Craft that were getting photo shoots done and the other 2 guys that owned their cars were polishing up everything on their cars and one of them looked over at me and said " Anybody notice that the guy with the 56 doesn't have to do anything!"

nice ride. fuel injection was around in the 50's they could only dream of a fuel injection that worked as great as efi. the way i look at it it's yours build it as you like.
and yes this is is a traditional custom and hot rod site. but believe me they would shove what ever hauled ass in their hot rods and a ls1 does haul ass.
great job and enjoy your car.
ps; just leave the hood shut at the HANB drags and no one will even know unless you race it. just kidding i know there's alot of guys who would appreciate your car there.
    i'll see ya there.

I don't think I am confused what a "survivor" is. I did not say that this is a survivor gasser or race car. I mean survivor because it still has all original paint and body panels on it and nothing was ever done to this car. That is until I molested it!

Damb that car has the perfect stance, wheels & tires right on the money. Patina, just right, not too much and not fake. IT's great until you open the hood, OUCH!!!!! I'm sure that drive train makes it great to drive and they have nice power. Best of luck with it and have a blast on the power tour, just leave the hood closed and tell them you have a dual quad 327 in there.

Are you kidding me!! You guys act like I got a Honda VTEC motor in there! I knew you guys were old school but wow, that comment was uncalled for. LS1 motor and dick just don't go together.

LSx engines are BADASS, they make GREAT power, they're like the 327's of today's engines (figuratively speaking). Couple friends of mine have them in the '93 style RX7's but that's another story... Is it a stock LS or modded? Not personally what I would have put in that car, but then again, it isn't mine. Very good lookin' car you have there.

  17. It's funny folks bitch about your LS1 and talk "traditional" and all that shit and then go stick a SBC in everything with wheels. It all depends on one's version of "traditional". Before 1955 nobody was stickin' SBC's in anything and probably up into the late '50's. Was Cads, Chryslers and Olds motors back then. It all depends on when ones "tradition" started. Hell, there are kids on here that probably think an '85 Caprice is in the same era as a Roman Chariot .. So in other words I think it's cool ride. I wish I had an EFI 514 Ford motor in my '56 ...

I love your car man and the engine is perfect because it is yours.......But WTF carburetors are for the birds? This guy is funny.

  20. Are you running catalytic converters and oxygen sensors too? I wasn't expecting that mill either but if we all get hit with unexpected sniffer tests and far more severe emissions standards in the near future, you may be ahead of the game.

Molested.... Hardly!!!! I do realize this is a traditional site. But I find this car very cleaver. What are the traditional guys gonna do when there is no more petroleum???? Or it is 20 bucks a gallon??? Again well excecuted, very inspirational car headers are excellent can't wait to see it in car craft!!!

  25. this car would be exempt due to its age

Ive seen this car in person... Its got a big cam and you would never think it had a motor under the hood that could take you cross country and get damn good mileage doing it...

    Very cool Scott!

Yeah no cats on this car. But yes it does have front oxygen sensors in it. Again, thanks for all the compliments. I didn't expect everybody to like the motor. LS1's are over 10 years old now, now people are swapping in LS3's and LS7's in cars. So in that sense, I am "old school" :p.
