Any cons from getting a paypal payment from an international buyer

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by xxwelderxx, Nov 23, 2009.

  1. I see so much badly wrong and dangerous info posted here.

eBay very very loudly announced that sellers were REQUIRED to use PayPal ONLY. Many sellers WERE INDEED suspended for not going along with that new rule.
A buyer can beg a seller to accept a check, but for a seller to even suggest it was acceptable meant a suspension.

Have they reversed that? I haven't heard they did.

Over the last couple years, since eBay changed from open-market to semi-communist Big Brother, communications have to go through the eBay system where they have computers constantly searching for keywords to alert them to any clues that buyers and sellers were working "deals".

They are constantly searching and deleting in their own chatrooms and help forums to remove many traces of unhappy people who do not agree with the new changes. Often you can read a post about a problem, and then go back and find the post or the whole thread had vanished within minutes.

The feedback has been changed into a nonsensical farce. You used to be able to tell who was nice and who was the crook.
No more. All shoplifters are saints with 100 % feedback, while businesses are the evil ones.

Just like the anti-business anti-capitalist Jimmy Carter years are now back in vogue again in todays politics, the anti-business policies af the "NEW" eBay are making their fortunes decline too.

They have laid off 1200 employees, and posted this years results at a 5-year low. This is during a time when their business should be absoultely booming.

And YES, this DOES have everything to do with PayPal.

Anybody here been on eBay long enough to remember their BillPoint payment system?
    I sure do.
Since eBay seriously F--- ed up their BillPoint payment system so bad they had to scrap it, they have taken over their rival PayPal, and have been remaking it in their own image.
The evolving changes in PayPal rules and procedures is making it more and more eBay-like every month.
If you read the whole User Agreement it would scare you.
Since they claim they are not a real bank, they do not have to follow banking rules.

    They have become more eBay-like.

They will reassure you just before they do you.

  5. A Powerseller with no info on what the rules are?

    How can that be?

Why do I keep getting "experts" who tell me the rules that eBay writes me letters about and tells me I have to follow are just my imagination?

I can fill this page with many links to news releases, eBay rules, and articles written on the subject of eBay's PayPal-Only rules.

    Read this for starters--

    once again.......bullshit

1st, your link isnt to ebay, but some message board.

2nd your own quoted link says that they think that ebay is moving toward that, not that it is at present. read your own story before using it as a refernce

obviously you dont do much business on ebay.

personally , i dont give a shit one way or the other, and never claimed to be an expert, but at least i speak from expirence, not fantasy, or 3rd party message boards, lol

eBay US has announced that, as of October 2008, eBay subsidiary PayPal will be pretty much the only way to buy stuff via its massively popular auction site.

eBay has announced that, come next month (OCT 08), PayPal will not only be the preferred method of payment in the US, it will be virtually the only method,

Maybe I don't know as much as a part-timer, but I do remember very clearly when eBay told us full time Powersellers the new rules.
They made it VERY clear to everyone who was selling at the time.
After ten years of full time Powerselling I closed my store like many thousands of others who left when the new management turned the prosperous open-market into a tightly controlled police state that's less prosperous. (kinda like today's U.S. politics)

eBay did indeed announce the changes.

Your not being there at the time to hear it doesn't mean they didn't say it.

That's all I care to say.

Theres No Repercussion from selling a item and collecting the funds from PP.. there are repercussions from Epay if they catch you selling an item that was posted there to a off site buyer.. they would suspend all activity.. Ive been there since 04.. 1000 + sales to my credit.. .. by the way.. PP is Ebay.. its like your city hall with branches hanging off of it.. they own alot.. they just dont admit it...

I sent a gas pump panel in mint condition. Winner got it and replaced it or broke it getting it out of a ton of bubble wrap and peanuts. He sent in a claim. PayPal took it out of my last 2 sales before it hit the bank. They froze it. I contested and offered 1/2. Buyer said no. He wanted all. PayPal gave it to him. Even though I have NEVER had a packing problem. If anything, I over pack with safety in mind. Just my 2 cents.

heres the link to ebays sellers rules

as noted on the ebay policy page, you can use any method of payment for just about anything we'd want to buy.

even in the other catigories, they only say you cant require certain types of payments.

i know i still get checks and money orders, and credit cards over the phone as well. perhaps you have items to sell that fall into some special circumstances, but they arent car parts

    anyway, from the horses mouth............
