Throttle Gals Website and Premiere Issue

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Doni, Nov 25, 2009.

  1. Good evening ya'll!

We have been working diligently on this project, that some of you may remember. Throttle Gals is a magazine that I am co creating with Trish Horstman of Baker Drivetrain. It is a women-oriented car and bike mag. Our website is up and running, and you can help support our upcoming January launch by purchasing the premiere issue, a subscription, or merchandise!

Thanks for reading all of this. And thanks for your continued support.

    Doni

I hope it works out , should be neat according to mission statmenet.
Gear heads are usually gear heads so I do not see why it can't and isn't mixed up between cars/trucks, bikes 4x4's , dirt etc. I do it all

great idea..... and good luck with it.....
theres quite a few women on here you could put in your mag.....

  11. Yes, we are!!! Have her email me at doni@throttlegals.com

We just have to figure out a fair compromise in shipping to the Aussies! :)

We may ship a bunch bulk there, and have them distributed locally, if we get enough support (hint hint) then we won't charge shipping at all!

Probably 25-50 issues would work for that!

  12. Check, if you don't have one yet, sign up and get a free shirt!

So is this a on line only mag or will it be a print magazine?

  14. Interesting idea!:) You may be onto something here.

But your website looks a little wonky, at least on my IE7. There's a block of copy displayed on top of the Throttle Gals logo in the header, though maybe that's just a browser issue. And the black text doesn't stand out very well against the dark background colors. Maybe white text or black text on a lighter background would be easier on my old eyebones.

Good luck, and I'll be checking back.

  15. That mush be your browser. the background is light gray. I apologize, but I don't know how to fix something like that. I have never seen an issue like that, and run IE as well.

  16. this will be a print magazine, which will be available for pdf download for a charge as well.:D

In these times it is great to see a new magazine startup. Wish you great success, and hope that you'll give us an occasional heads-up about what's going into the mag.

  19. Well, a little preview, a '41 chevy called the Pink Bomb out of Ventura CA, and '48 Dodge B1B PU!

  20. No problem. Maybe it's time to download IE8 or switch to Firefox.

Or maybe my eyes need a valve grind?

Best of luck. It will be hard to start a publication in these days of reduced disposable incomes and Internet pervasiveness, but with the right niche I hope you do great.

  22. Hey ya'll!
Singlefinger Speed Shop is sponsoring our first center spread! It is awesome, vintage and I believe captures the essence of what our magazine is all about!

Here's a couple minor suggestions...add a link to the website in your signature here on the forum, it's free advertisement to nearly 90,000 potential customers...pound the pavement at EVERY car show you can possibly get you or your friends to promote the mag at, even if it's just walking around and talking to folks and handing out flyer printouts of magazine info and subscription info...contact some of the pinup and automotive photographers here on the forum like Hey Cupcake! and April May for whatever professional images they'd care to contribute to give themselves free advertisement as well as help you guys out with quality photography...there are probably a hundred or so small time shops and parts suppliers on the HAMB that would be glad to toss you a couple bucks for a business card, half page or full page advertisement, you'd be supporting small business and they'd be supporting you...I really wish you gals all the best, and I hope this endeavor takes off into something sustainable...

And I'd be more than happy to give you gals a list of potential sponsors, photographers and help promote the mag in any way I can...

  25. RUINER!!! I love you! lol

    my addy is www.throttlegals.com

I also need people who have connections into chains (like autozone or other appropriate place) to allow me to distribute. Does anyone know someone? Regular distributors that I have spoken to do not believe woman can be into cars and bikes, so I am struggling with distribution. Thanks!
