So I would have to swap the 350 in my fathers '27 Sedan for the 327 in my roadster.
    Done
Now did any one answer the "Are disc breaks allowed" question?
That would take alittle more work to swap front ends.
Other than that I'm in and my wife has just sighed up for the "Navigator" postion

Well, I think it's time 'somebody' gets off their****, quits talking about it, and 'gets er done'!

I can't believe so many people want to find reasons not to run! So you get a ticket, or spend the night in jail, so the f**k what? I'll bet for most, it wouldn't be the first time!:D

Well screw him and no one else has signed up for this. Sign me up sister. Calling shotgun for this trip at the start (sorry Rox). See if Rox can get time off too btw. We could make it a**********. :D

    Will split driving.

I got all of the gas (no pun intended well...) money for the trip. As well a few tricks to bring along.

Oh I will need a supply of cookies for energy too!

Look, pick a date (preferably fall!), take names, and send out private emails. Only those receiving the emails will know the date, and start/finish info. No money, trophies, or B.S. Just bragging rights to the winner after the deed is done!

Once the race is over, we will all know those that were willing, and those that just talked and came up with a lame excuse.

Seems to me, that this would be 'traditional rodding' at its' finest! JMHO.

I'd be in for it, if I can get a navigator/ co pilot.

  10. I might even have the 55' or the 57' on the read for this thing if it happens!

"Might even have"?? Hypothetically speaking of course, what would you drive?? Not, well I could get this ready, or I could get that ready, what would you drive if it went down next month? Pre-65 sheel metal of course.

What about those that also say they'd like to do it? Todays a Friday, a fun day, weekends almost here, lets have some hypothetically speaking ideas on what you have to drive NOW for a 2800 mile trip across the USA.

So, hypothetically speaking, who would drive shotgun with you and could you get the time off work?

I work two weeks on, two weeks off with lots of vacation time, so yes, I could get it off.

I don't think it would be right to drop other HAMBers names here, but I know for fact that there are some FLatcad guys that want to ride along. And if they couldn't go, I have some mc brothers that can:cool: They have already mentioned they would like to 'open' the front door!

    All I have is a pick-up... :(

  19. I have seen this car.
It was parked outside the bike shop in Perry, NY (Brock lived in Wyoming, NY). Minlites and rally clocks. Neat ride that made us stop and look. That was roughly thirty years ago.

and what year is this pickup??

  21. This is definitely not something to try solo.
Like ZMAN said, it takes a lot out of you.
I used to make the run from Great Lakes, IL to south of Rochester, NY in a little under ten hours(Should have been fourteen). Now it is legal to make that run in a little over eleven hours.

    1954 - but I wouldn't classify it as a "hot rod"...

  23. Probably the black 57' Poncho, 4 door hardtop. Its a running driving car that got 10,000 miles put on it this year - you could drive it anywhere. I sold it to my friend but he's already offered it if I need it for a cross country run. He wants to co-drive!

I would rather take my own car, but my 57' Poncho 2 dr hardtop has the engine at Machinists shop right now, and the 55' wagon still needs most everything.

I finally read that a couple years ago and it really got under my skin...
In fact, I want to do this so bad! My car's hardly trad and is such a prima donna, it probably wouldn't go the distance. But I'm up for shotgunning with someone (it's true - us writer types are road******s). Bob K - what say you? Need a crew member?

I guess not too many want to play the hypothetical game huh?

If I were going to do it in Big Olds I'd first put a 4 point 12 volt plug in for a GPS, cell phone, CB radio and... radar detector.....would my old one from the 90's? still pick up whatever the po-po is radar-ing??

I'd make a bracket for the front bumper and run large aftermark running lights, the kind the Jeep guys use to help with nighttime visability. I think I would also put wipers on Big Olds for the run.

Cool stuff to think about during the long winter months.

Anyone else wanna do a hypothetical Cannonball Run?
